LA Thieves Shake Up The Call of Duty League With New Superteam For Black Ops 6
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|September 27, 2024|0 Comment
After weeks of speculation, the LA Thieves (LAT) have finally revealed their star-studded roster for the 2025 Call of Duty League (CDL) season. While rumours had been swirling, team owner Matt “Nadeshot” Haag had downplayed the leaks during his Twitch streams, leaving fans unsure if the superteam would actually come together. Now, the wait is over, and the official lineup has been confirmed.

Dan “Ghosty” Rothe is the only returning player from LAT’s 2024 season. Joining him are three heavyweights of the CDL: Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst, Dylan “Envoy” Hannon, and Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez. This marks a homecoming for Envoy, who had a successful stint with LAT before heading to Toronto Ultra. His return follows a year in which LAT’s entire championship-winning roster from 2023 departed due to budget cuts.
LAT has clearly resolved its financial hurdles, as Nadeshot admitted the team had to make significant investments to secure these top-tier players. In a personal twist, Nadeshot even contributed part of his own salary to ensure the deals went through, highlighting his commitment to the team’s success.
Scrappy and HyDra are considered among the best in the league, with both consistently performing at the highest level. Scrappy, an MVP contender since 2022, played alongside Envoy last season on Toronto Ultra, while HyDra is fresh off an MVP season and a world championship win with the New York Subliners, now rebranded as Cloud9 New York.
While Ghosty remains the only LAT member without a championship under his belt, his rise to prominence in the 2024 season, where he established himself as a top-five assault rifle player, earned LAT a second-place finish at the Esports World Cup (EWC).
This new roster is undeniably stacked, but CDL history has shown that talent doesn’t always guarantee success. Time will tell if this superteam can live up to its potential. One thing is clear, though—the CDL’s top-tier now features a fierce three-way rivalry between OpTic Texas, Atlanta FaZe, and the newly revamped LA Thieves.
