Mortal Kombat 1’s Launch Trailer Teases A Certain Fan Of Scary Movies’ Finishing Move

Ahead of its launch next week, developer NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have showcased one final trailer for Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns, the upcoming expansion of the base game that came out in 2023.

While the trailer is pretty epic in delivering a new story expansion, the end of it teases one of the fatalities of Ghostface (of Scream horror movie fame). It’s what you would expect from a psychopath (or two) who is obsessed with scary movies, sequels, and reboots of said genres.

We also get to see some pretty cool Animalities, one involving a phoenix burning a victim to ash with excruciating pain. And one where Noob Saibot transform into a pair of crocodiles and performs the “Make A Wish” fatality back in MK9. All in all, bloody good fun for an expansion pack-level experience, even if the first guest character is essentially a normal human with sociopathic tendencies and Ginsu knife skills.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns expansion will be out on 24 September. Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot will be available at launch, while Ghostface, T-1000, and Conan the Barbarian will be available post-launch; dates to be determined.
