Transformers One Ending Explained & Post Credits Breakdown [Updated]

[Update 22/10/2024: Added new stills & screenshots, and new video]

Transformers One is a new Transformers animated movie, telling the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, Transformers One features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi with Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.

Transformers One is slated to premiere in Malaysian cinemas on 12 September 2024.

Ending

The planet Cybertron was created by the first Transformer, Primus, who sacrificed himself to become the planet Cybertron. He also gave birth to the first Transformers, the Primes. Transformers are powered by Energon and the powerful Matrix Of Leadership is given to those worthy of leading the Transformers. The Matrix Of Leadership is also responsible for making sure that the Energon keeps flowing on Cybertron.

However, a war between the Transformers and the Quintessons many cycles ago on Cybertron caused the Matrix Of Leadership to disappear. The conflict also resulted in the deaths of all the Primes, except for Sentinel Prime (Jon Hamm). The loss of the Matrix Of Leadership forced the Transformers to start mining the underground tunnels of Cybertron for Energon.

This is where the movie begins, as Orion Pax (Chris Hemsworth) and D-16 (Brian Tyree Henry) are both miners with dreams for bigger things. Orion wants to search for the Matrix Of Leadership and one day, with B-127 AKA Bumblebee (Keegan-Michael Key) and Elita-1 (Scarlett Johansson), they discover the truth behind what’s really happening in the city of Iacon and Cybertron.

It’s revealed that the Transformers lost their war against the Quintessons when Sentinel Prime betrayed the Primes for the Quintessons. After the loss of the Matrix Of Leadership, all of the Energon mined by miners like Orion Pax and D-16 were actually given to the Quintessons in return for the Quintessons leaving Sentinel Prime and Iacon city in peace.  It’s also revealed all Transformers are born with Cogs. Cogs are what allow Transformers to transform. However, miners like Orion Pax and D-16 were forced to work in the mines and be second-class citizens because Sentinel Prime removed their Cogs from birth.

The four of them then begin to fight back against Sentinel Prime (after they are given new Cogs by Alpha Trion, played by Laurence Fishburne). Orion Pax gains the Matrix Of Leadership (after sacrificing himself to stop D-16 from killing Sentinel Prime) and becomes Optimus Prime. This causes him to clash with D-16 (who is now calling himself Megatron, named after Megatronus Prime, one of the fallen Primes). Regardless, Megatron ends up tearing Sentinel Prime in half and causes chaos in Iacon with his followers, who used to be the Cybertronian High Guard (consisting of Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, and all the Seekers).

Optimus Prime defeats Megatron and forms the Autobots (named after autonomy). Energon also starts flowing freely on Cybertron again. The film ends with Optimus Prime’s monologue, warning the Quintessons that if they set foot on Cybertron, the Autobots will be waiting.

Post-Credit Scenes

The first post-credits scene in Transformers One is just a funny gag scene with B-127 AKA Bumblebee and his fake friends, Steve and AA Tron.

The second post-credits scene in Transformers One is Megatron forming the Decepticons, with Starscream (Steve Buscemi), Soundwave and Shockwave by his side. They’re all marking their bodies by literally branding them with the Decepticon logo, which is based on the face of Megatronus Prime.
