10 Manhwa You Need To Be Reading

I, like many, was first introduced to the concept of manhwa through Solo Leveling. From that, I fell down the rabbit hole moving onto manhwa such as Tower of God and The God of High School. My journey started in 2019 and I’ve since become an amateur connoisseur of the medium. I will refrain from including the manhwa Big Three (Tower of God, The God of High School, Noblesse) and Solo Leveling as you’ve most likely read them already, but if not then you should definitely check them out. So without further ado, it’s time to uncover some fresh treasures. So, without further ado, here’s a list of 10 manhwa that you need to be reading right now.

10. Solo Leveling: Ragnarok

For those who felt a gaping hole in their life after finishing Solo Leveling, Ragnarok offers the perfect sequel to soothe your withdrawal. It follows Sung Suho, the son of Sung Jinwoo, as he steps into his father’s massive shadow. The story embraces everything that made its predecessor a hit—insane power scaling, jaw-dropping battles, and that sense of rising above the impossible. If you’re craving the familiar but with a fresh perspective, this is where you’ll want to sink your teeth.

9. Mercenary Enrollment

What happens when a former child soldier has to navigate the treacherous waters of high school? You get Mercenary Enrollment, a manhwa that perfectly blends action and emotional depth. Our protagonist, Ijin, is a stoic badass who takes the “silent but deadly” trope to another level. It’s more than just fights, though. The story beautifully captures the struggle of reintegrating into society, making you root for Ijin both in and out of battle. If you want high-octane action mixed with personal growth, this one’s for you.

8. Viral Hit

In today’s world of influencers and social media, Viral Hit flips the script by throwing a high schooler into the ring—literally. This manhwa is equal parts street fighting and comedy, where the protagonist learns how to win fights by watching YouTube videos. It’s a hilarious premise that also packs a punch (pun intended) with its adrenaline-filled fight scenes. If you love the underdog story with a side of internet culture, Viral Hit will quickly become your next binge-read.

7. The Breaker

Martial arts enthusiasts, this one’s for you. The Breaker takes the classic “student meets mysterious master” trope and runs with it—straight into epic fight choreography and a storyline that builds tension like no other. The characters grow in complexity as much as their martial arts skills, and the stakes? Oh, they’re always high. If you want a manhwa that’ll make you feel every punch and cheer for every victory, don’t sleep on The Breaker.

6. Bastard

Dark, disturbing, and downright chilling, Bastard is a psychological thriller that will leave you on edge. It tells the story of a boy whose father is a serial killer, forcing him to grapple with his morality and survival. It’s a slow burn, but each chapter ratchets up the tension until you’re practically holding your breath. For those who love stories that mess with your mind and keep you guessing, Bastard is a must-read.

5. The Boxer

In The Boxer, the protagonist doesn’t fight to win—he fights to destroy. This manhwa takes a deep dive into the psyche of its cold, emotionless lead, who views boxing not as a sport but as a means to an end. The artwork is intense, with each punch feeling heavier than the last, and the themes of loneliness and nihilism hit just as hard. If you’re looking for a manhwa that goes beyond the typical sports narrative, The Boxer will challenge your expectations in the best way.

4. Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint

Imagine waking up to find that your favourite web novel has come to life—and you’re the only one who’s read it. That’s the premise of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, where the protagonist, Dokja, uses his knowledge of the story’s plot to survive in a newly apocalyptic world. The meta-narrative is brilliantly executed, with constant twists and turns that keep you hooked. If you’ve ever dreamed of having the upper hand in a game you know inside-out, this manhwa will fuel that fantasy.

3. Sweet Home

Sweet Home is the perfect blend of horror and heart. In a world where people are turning into grotesque monsters, the protagonist Cha Hyun-soo battles not only the external threats but his own internal demons. The survival horror is top-tier, but it’s the emotional depth and character development that will keep you coming back for more. If you’re a fan of dark, apocalyptic settings with a heavy dose of humanity, Sweet Home will pull you in and refuse to let go.

2. Eleceed

If you’re looking for something lighter, Eleceed brings humour, action, and a whole lot of heart. This manhwa features a young man with superhuman speed who teams up with a sentient cat to protect the world from evil forces. The art style might take some getting used to, especially if you’re not into the Yaoi/Boy Love aesthetic, but trust me—it grows on you. At its core, Eleceed is wholesome and fun, with laugh-out-loud moments that make it one of the most endearing manhwa out there.

1. Wind Breaker

Cycling has never looked so cool. Wind Breaker combines heart-pounding racing scenes with a surprisingly deep story about friendship, ambition, and personal growth. The protagonist, Jay, is a quiet high schooler who just happens to be a cycling prodigy. What makes Wind Breaker stand out is how it makes you care about the sport even if you’ve never touched a bike. The art is dynamic, the characters are relatable, and the stakes feel real. If you want a manhwa that’ll have you racing through chapters, this is it.

Whether you’re into psychological thrillers, action-packed adventures, or lighthearted fun, this list has something for everyone. Dive in, and you might just find your next obsession.
