A First Look At Konami’s Edens Zero Game
By Lewis LarcombeVerified|October 21, 2024|0 Comment
After being announced back in 2020, Konami has finally revealed a first look at the game during the Xbox Partner Preview, showcasing a gameplay trailer that got fans buzzing with excitement. The much-anticipated action RPG adaptation of Hiro Mashima’s space fantasy is set to launch in 2025, with releases confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC via Steam.
In true action-RPG style, this game promises thrilling, combo-filled battles where you can step into the shoes of your favourite Edens Zero crew members. The trailer gives us a taste of what to expect, featuring fan favourites like Shiki Granbell, Rebecca, Weisz, and Homura, each with their own unique fighting styles. Whether it’s Shiki’s close-range combat or Rebecca’s long-range shooting, every character’s Ether Gear abilities bring a variety of strategies to the battlefield.
The excitement doesn’t stop there—teases of other characters from the manga and anime suggest Witch Regret, Sister Ivry, Valkyrie Yuna, Hermit Mio, and even antagonist Drakken Joe will make appearances. Fans can expect a mix of story-driven cutscenes and intense combat scenarios, all rendered in anime-inspired 3D graphics.
Set in an expansive open world, the game offers more than just a faithful retelling of the original story. You’ll get to explore new quests and exclusive content, tailored specifically for this game adaptation. The planet Blue Garden will be your playground, where you can engage in over 200 quests ranging from gruelling battles to exploration-filled episodes that deepen the lore. Whether you’re battling enemies, hunting for rare items, or simply taking on missions to rank up as an Adventurer, there’s no shortage of things to do.
As your party grows, so does your adventure. Form alliances with unexpected characters—maybe even some former enemies—and take on quests that could unlock new crew members for your interstellar warship, the Edens Zero. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to customize everything from your crew’s abilities to their appearances, with over 700 equipable items to discover.
The game’s battle mechanics aim to keep players on their toes. You’ll need to master combos, finish attacks, and have powerful Ether Gear abilities to crush your enemies. A key feature is the Overboost system, which can temporarily buff your character’s attack and defence, giving you the upper hand in heated moments. Build up your gauge to activate devastating Special Skills and signature moves, capable of wiping out nearby enemies in one powerful strike.
As you progress, weapons and armour can be upgraded, and your Ether Gear abilities will evolve, unlocking even more powerful moves. Each battle will get you closer to becoming the toughest fighter in the cosmos.
Your adventures aboard the Edens Zero won’t just be about fighting—there’s plenty of downtime to enjoy too. From playing mini-games to upgrading your ship’s facilities, the warship acts as a hub where you can manage your crew, improve your Ether Gear, and bond with allies. For fans of the manga and anime, there’s even more to love, with collectable cards and lore-expanding notes hidden throughout the game, penned by Hiro Mashima himself.
So, buckle up! This space-faring RPG promises a thrilling adventure with its combination of high-stakes action, expansive exploration, and a deeply engaging story. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to Edens Zero, this game will have you fighting to be the strongest in the cosmos while unearthing secrets in every corner of the universe.
