This girl is on fire.

This week, HoYoverse has updated its free-to-play action game Zenless Zone Zero with a few new events, quests, and a new character: Sons of Calydon resident bartender Burnice White. She is an Anomaly-class Fire-element warrior with a pretty good kit and is now featured on the 3-week long character banner for everyone to gacha.

A few days prior, in a pretty effective marketing tactic, HoYoverse released a character trailer for Burnice which is, to put it mildly, pretty eccentric and out of the norm. The video below does not show off Burnice’s kit but rather what’s going on in her pretty and perky little head: an MTV-style dance video with an original song called “Burning Desires”.

The video hit 1.5 million views on YouTube at this point in writing, with many comments on it being positive and just enjoying the nonsense that entails. HoYoverse followed that up with an EP video of the song “Burning Desires”.

The kicker? The song loops for an hour. HoYoverse sure knows how to pander to a crowd of thirsty gacha game players, especially when the character of the month has their own cute theme song that cribs off from famous pop culture dance numbers and memes. The song is produced by Yang Wutao, with vocals by MES and lyrics by SL.

The Burnice EP – Burning Desires 1-hour video is currently at 127,300 views since its release this noon on 17 October. We’re guessing it’ll reach past a million views after a day or two. And I’ll bet you that the song and jingle might get stuck in your head if played for prolonged minutes, let alone hours.
