MLBB M6 World Championship: New Format, Bigger Stakes, Same Epic Showdown
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|October 14, 2024|0 Comment
The M6 World Championship has officially unveiled its tournament format and key dates for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s (MLBB) premier esports event, set to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Marking its 6th edition, this year’s M Series is themed #GreaterThanEver, reflecting the tournament’s elevated status with a larger prize pool and revamped format. It also highlights the journey of participating teams as they aim to secure the highest accolades in the competitive MLBB scene.
The action kicks off with the Wild Card Stage from 21-24 November, providing emerging regions a platform to shine. Eight teams, split into two groups, will compete in a single round-robin format with best-of-three (BO3) matches. Only the top team from each group will move on to the next phase, while the remaining six will be eliminated. The two advancing teams will face off in a best-of-five (BO5) match to secure a spot in the Main Stage.
Wild Card Stage matches will be held from 21-23 November, starting at 2:00 PM (GMT+8), while the second phase on 24 November begins at 5:00 PM (GMT+8).
For the first time in M Series history, the Main Stage will follow the Swiss Format, adding a fresh twist to the competition. Beginning 28 November, 16 teams will battle through five rounds, with group draws taking place after each round. The first eight teams to secure three wins will advance to the Knockout Stage, while those suffering three losses will be eliminated.
The Knockout Stage will feature a double-elimination format. The first round, scheduled for 7 December, will be BO3 matches, followed by BO5 matchups from 8-14 December. The tournament will culminate in the Grand Finals on 15 December, where the final BO7 showdown kicks off at 5:00 PM (GMT+8).
With 16 international teams competing for a share of the US$1 million prize pool, the M6 World Championship promises to showcase the peak of professional MLBB gaming.
