NIP Flash Set For M6 World Championship As Three-Peat MPL Singapore Champions

NIP Flash has secured their spot in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang history, claiming their third consecutive championship at the MPL Singapore Season 8 Playoffs. Overcoming a shaky start, they rallied from a game down to defeat EVIL 4-1 in the Grand Finals, walking away with the largest share of the SG$100,000 prize pool. By achieving this three-peat, NIP Flash now stand alongside RSG Singapore as the only teams in Singapore to accomplish this remarkable feat, solidifying their legacy as one of the nation’s top esports teams.

Ready for Global Glory

With their MPL victory, NIP Flash also became the first team to qualify for the prestigious M6 World Championship, where they’ll aim to bring home the title of world champions. This premier Mobile Legends event, offering a massive prize pool of around SG$1.3 million (US$1 million), will culminate at the iconic Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, where the first M World Championship was held five years ago. The M Series has grown into one of the most-watched esports tournaments globally, with the M5 World Championship drawing over 5 million peak viewers.

NIP Flash recently showcased their international potential with a top-four finish at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024, part of the Esports World Cup (EWC). This marked Singapore’s best performance at a global MLBB event in over two years, with the team bringing home an impressive SG$260,000 (US$200,000) — the highest earnings ever for a Singaporean MLBB squad. Reflecting on the upcoming M6 tournament, team captain Yeo “Diablo” Wee Lun shared their ambition:

“We’re looking to go beyond the top four this time and aim for nothing less than the championship.”

Record-Breaking Playoffs

Season 8 of MPL Singapore saw the largest-ever Playoffs in the league’s history, with 390 fans in attendance, setting a new record for local support. According to Esports Charts, the Grand Finals was the most-watched match of the season, attracting 40,401 peak concurrent viewers, making this season the second-most popular MPL Singapore season to date.

The Grand Finals showdown was intense from the start, with EVIL’s Jungler, Bien “Boyet” Chumecera, dominating the first game with his signature Hayabusa, earning MVP honours after securing a triple kill and both Lords. Despite EVIL’s strong opening, NIP Flash regrouped and took control of the remaining games.

By the third match, NIP Flash found their rhythm, with standout plays from Roamer Akihiro “JPL” Furusawa and Mid Laner Jankurt “KurtTzy” Matira, who delivered a game-winning triple kill in the final game. Despite some aggressive plays from EVIL, NIP Flash stayed composed and ultimately broke through their opponents’ defence, securing the championship and once again lifting the MPL Singapore trophy.
