In Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, you are tasked as Emperor to build up your empire and annex towns and countries to expand. This also means you need to make allies who can aid your cause in protecting the realms against the corrupted Seven Heroes and the fiends running around in their stead.
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven features a plethora of classes and unique races that can expand your party play style, be it physical attacks or magic-focused barrages. If you’re an old-school player of the past 90s game, there are a few new classes to pique your interest.
We will keep spoilers to a minimum, but this guide will mention some key characters and plot bits as some classes cannot be unlocked without heading deeper into the game. So here’s your warning.
Speciality: Sword, Club
Ability: Auto-Parry. Grants a 40% chance to parry attacks while equipped with a sword.
How To Unlock: You start with this class in the game.
Speciality: Sword (M/F), Greatsword(M), Hydrology (M), Aerology (M/F), Short Sword (F), Bow (F)
Ability:
Light As A Feather (M). Armor weight is treated as zero and no longer has an effect on speed.
Swift Combatant (F). Grants a 30% chance to act first in any given turn.
How To Unlock: You start with this class in the game.
Speciality: Short Sword (F), Spear (M), Bow (M/F)
Ability:
Ruiner (M). Increases the duration of inflicted status ailments and debuffs by two turns.
Corruptor (F). Increases the chance to successfully inflict status ailments by 50%.
How To Unlock: You start with this class in the game.
Speciality: Club (M), Short Sword (F), Pyrology (M/F), Aerology (M/F)
Ability: Spell BP Reduction. Reduces the amount of BP needed to chant spells by 20%.
How To Unlock: You start with this Class.
Speciality: Greatsword (M), Axe (M), Cosmology(M/F), Sword (F), Spear (F), Bow (F)
Ability:
Max HP+ (M). Increases maximum HP by 10%.
Max BP+ (F). Increases maximum BP by 10%.
How To Unlock: Fight your first battle and boss fight against the goblins invading Avalon as Emperor Gerard. The Mercenaries will join your cause.
Speciality: Martial Arts
Ability: Tech Damage+. Increases the amount of damage dealt by techs by 10%.
How To Unlock: Complete the Fiends’ Cloister but don’t kill the final boss. Instead, defeat the giant purple slime boss. Once that’s done, do not opt to go deeper and fight the boss at the end of the cave. Instead, head back to the Dragon Cave dojo and talk to the Martial Artist boss so that he and his group deliver the final blow. He will then join your army afterwards.
Speciality: Club(M), Bow (M), Martial Arts (M/F), Short Sword (F), Hydrology, Terrology
Ability:
Resplendence (M).Recovers 5% of total BP when delivering a successful basic attack.
Auto-BP Recover (F).Recovers 2% of total BP when it is the character’s turn to act.
How To Unlock: Build an Incantation Lab for Avalon.
Speciality: Sword (M), Bow (M/F), Martial Arts (F), Short Sword (M)
Ability:
Cutpurse (M). Grants a 15% chance to steal items from enemies when delivering a successful melee attack.
Scavenger (F). Occasionally loots 2x more of certain items upon emerging victorious from battle.
How To Unlock: Save Cat during the Thief event, then help kill the giant octopus demon boss in the Thief hideout. Then complete the takeover of the Canal Fortress.
Speciality: Pyrology, Terrology, Cosmology, Hydrology, Aerology
Ability: Spell Damage+. Increases the amount of damage dealt by spells by 10%.
How To Unlock: Build a University in Avalon, then take the first test and pass it. After completing a quest involving a Landcruiser, the Strategist will join you.
Speciality: Sword, Axe, Spear
Ability: Overdrive Gauge+. Increases the amount of Overdrive gauge gained upon attacking by 50%.
How To Unlock: Refuse to pay the toll when visiting Nuono the first time. Alternatively, after completing the Garon event, he will join you.
Extra Note: To complete the Comroon quest, you need to have a Corsair Emperor as they have the skills to navigate the treacherous high seas.
Speciality: Sword (M), Aerology (M), Cosmology (M/F), Club (F), Spear (F), Hydrology (F)
Ability:
Damage Converter (M). Increases the Overdrive gauge by 5% whenever the unit suffers an attack.
Healing Potency (F). Increases the amount of HP recovered by spells by 20%.
How To Unlock: Finish the Cumberland events and defeat Cyfreet.
Speciality: Club, Martial Arts
Ability: Survivor. Leaves the character at 1HP when suffering large amounts of damage, provided they had at least 30% HP remaining.
How To Unlock: Finish the Child and Mu Calf event.
Speciality: Axe (M), Sword (M), Bow (F), Club (F), Pyrology (F), Terrology (M)
Ability:
Waste Not, Want Not (M). Grants a 70% chance to prevent consumable items from being depleted upon use.
Chemist (F). Increases the amount of HP recovered when using consumables in battle by 200%.
How To Unlock: Complete the Landship event and defeat Bokhohn.
Speciality: Greatsword
Ability: ???
How To Unlock: Will join you after sorting out the events of Chonto Castle.
Speciality: Bow, Martial Arts
Ability: First Striker. Allows the character to act first on the starting turn of each combat.
How To Unlock: How To Unlock: Defeat the Termite Queen quest in the Savannah, then talk to the Hunter in the Savannah.
Speciality: Bow, Martial Arts
Ability: Vigorous Attacker. Increases damage dealt by 10% when the character is at full HP.
How To Unlock: In the Salamat forest area, head to the Amazon village. You have to be a female Emperor to even set foot inside and recruit the Amazon.
Speciality: Sword (F), Spear (M/F), Cosmology (M/F), Axe (M)
Ability:
Critical Striker (M). Grants a 20% chance to ignore enemy defense when attacking to deliver critical damage.
Tough Hide (F): Grants a 20% chance to completely nullify an attack dealt to the character.
How To Unlock: Get up to five territories. Then, go to your throne and buy the Imperial Fort option for 300,000 crowns.
Speciality: Sword, Bow, Greatsword, Aerology
Ability: Provoker. Increases the chance of being targeted by enemy attacks when using counterattack techniques.
How To Unlock: In the Wandering Lake, defeat or speak to Noel.
Speciality: Pyrology, Axe, Club, Sword, Greatsword, Martial Arts
Ability: Pyro Benison. Completely nullifies all damage dealt by Pyrology spells and heals on fire leylines. Also includes synthesized spells.
How To Unlock: Complete the second half of the Mount Comroon and erupting volcano events
Speciality: Hydrology, Club
Ability: Hydro Benison. Completely nullifies all damage dealt by Hydrology spells and heals on hydro leylines. Also includes synthesized spells.
How To Unlock: Keep doing the Mermaid Potion event. When you manage to get the water for the potion at Lake Aqua, the Nereid will pledge herself to the Empire.
Speciality: Short Sword, Terrology
Ability: Terro Benison. Completely nullifies all Terrology spell damage and heals on Earth leylines. These include synthesized spells.
How To Unlock: Defeat the Termite Queen quest in the Savannah. Then talk to the Mole people and they’ll rebuild their town while also forging an alliance with your kingdom.
Speciality: Bow, Aerology
Ability: Aero Benison. Completely nullifies all damage dealt by aerology spells and heals on wind leylines. Also includes synthesized spells. beneficial effects are not ignored.
How To Unlock: Follow the Bard and Iris quest thread. After going all around the world and collecting the Bard instruments, you’ll eventually be led to an Iris who will lead you to her village. She’ll join your party after these cutscenes. Also, you might have to defeat Wagnas if she doesn’t join automatically.
Speciality: Martial Arts, Hydrology
Ability: Analysis. Increases the amount of damage dealt when striking an enemy’s weakness by 15%.
How To Unlock: During the Fight For Chonto Castle event, you’ll end up in a basement where the Ninja is trapped. After triggering a hilarious bunch of cutscenes and winning the subsequent fight, the Ninja will join you.
Speciality: Axe, Club, Pyrology, Terrology
Ability: Smithy. Increases weapon attack and armor defense by 10%.
How To Unlock: Complete the Smithy quest where you have to find rare crystals from all over the world map.
Speciality: Spear, Hydrology, Cosmology
Ability: Auto-HP Recovery. Recovers 20% of total HP when it is the character’s turn to act.
How To Unlock: Complete the Sunken Ship event.
Speciality: Short Sword, Bow, Hydrology
Ability: Penny Pincher. Recovers 25% of the Overdrive gauge upon successful execution of a United Attack.
How To Unlock: Complete the Mermaid quest. In the next generation or two, head back to Atlanticus and check out the dancer. She will join your party after a short conversation.
