After Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Ends, “New Characters” Will Be Introduced
A recent interview has proof that the Sonic cinematic universe is expanding beyond just Shadow The Hedgehog.
Director Jeff Fowler said on Entertainment Weekly that there is a good possibility that the show will bring in new characters for Sonic 3, much like how the first Sonic movie brought in Tails and the second brought in Shadow.
“It’s fun to see the fan debates online about who’s coming up next,” Fowler said, “who’s going to be teased at the end of the film.”
And sure enough, Twitter keywords like “Metal Sonic”, “Silver” and “Rouge” have been popping up, as these are characters from the Sonic games that have yet to appear on the silver screen.
“We have a lot of the same conversations. We’ve all got our favorites on the filmmaking side, and we’re all making great cases for ‘it should be this one or that one.’ It is fun to keep that anticipation. This movie is no different in terms of teasing new characters.”
In the same interview, he also talked about how good a job Keanu Reeves is at voicing Shadow the Hedgehog.
“He thinks the character is awesome and he definitely understood what we were going for and he was very excited to do his version of it. Like all the cast, [he] really wants to get it right and really cares. He really wanted to create a very fan-faithful version of the character. He did research. In our first meeting, he very clearly had gone and done his homework, which was awesome. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Keanu and what he brought to the character and the experience of making this movie. I think people are going to really, really love his version of Shadow.”
It’s anyone’s guess at this point in time, but it’s good to know that the makers of the film are continuing the tradition of slowly adding in more anthropomorphic characters in the film. Sonic The Hedgehog 3 will hit cinemas on 26 December in Malaysia & Southeast Asia.
