CD Projekt Red Confirms New Cyberpunk Netflix Animation Amid Franchise Success
By Lewis Larcombe|November 27, 2024|0 Comment
Back in September, during Netflix Geeked Week, fans were treated to a brief teaser hinting at another Cyberpunk animation project. While Netflix’s announcement set the rumour mill spinning, CD Projekt Red has now officially confirmed its involvement in this exciting collaboration.
The news was shared during the company’s quarterly earnings call, alongside some impressive milestones for the Cyberpunk franchise. CD Projekt’s CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz went on to share:
“Sales of Cyberpunk 2077 have topped 30 million copies, while the Phantom Liberty expansion has sold eight million units. These are impressive figure – they reveal the true size of the fan community and the scale of interest in the Cyberpunk universe. Both are very important to us, since we recently announced that next year the game, along with its expansion, would be coming to Mac devices powered by Apple Silicon chips. I’m also very happy to announce that we’re working on another animation project set in the Cyberpunk universe, which will be released on Netflix.”
The company also revealed plans to bring Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion to Mac devices equipped with Apple Silicon chips next year, extending the game’s reach even further.

As for the upcoming animation project, it marks another collaboration with Netflix following the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which helped reignite enthusiasm for the game in 2022. However, Nielubowicz didn’t specify if Studio Trigger—the animation studio behind Edgerunners—is involved this time around.
Meanwhile, development of the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, codenamed Project Orion, is underway. This time, CD Projekt Red’s North American studios in Boston and Vancouver are leading the charge, aiming to infuse the sequel with a more authentic American perspective.
In other news, CD Projekt confirmed that The Witcher 4 has entered full-scale production, signalling that the studio is keeping busy with its most beloved franchises.
From games to animations, the Cyberpunk universe shows no signs of slowing down, continuing to captivate fans worldwide
