Chrono Sword: Early Access Launches On 6 December For PC

The pixel art Soulslike action RPG Chrono Sword is set to launch in Early Access for PC via Steam on 6 December, as announced by publisher CFK and developer 21c.Ducks. A full release will follow later, expanding to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The Early Access version offers about 30% of the game’s total content, featuring three regions, a variety of monsters and bosses, and an array of equipment to experiment with.
Combat is the heart of any action RPG, and Chrono Sword reimagines the Soulslike formula with a blend of heavy hits and fluid mechanics for an intense yet rewarding experience. Here’s a breakdown of its unique combat features:
Developed by the Korean indie studio 21c.Ducks, Chrono Sword transports players to the gothic fantasy world of Adelnor, where time travel between the past and future unveils hidden secrets.
Since its debut in 2019, the game has captivated audiences with its striking pixel art and quarter-view design, a refreshing departure from the 3D-heavy Soulslike norm. After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020, raising over US$70,000, the team has tirelessly refined its storytelling, action, and RPG elements.
Players step into a seamless world, transitioning between eras without loading screens. The game’s ambitious design has earned it accolades at various events, including nominations at the Busan Indie Connect Festival and a special award at the Burning Beaver Festival 2022.
Chrono Sword made waves at the Tokyo Game Show 2024, where a polished demo impressed fans and highlighted its evolved combat and RPG mechanics. Building on this momentum, the game participated in Steam Next Fest in October, showcasing expanded content and drawing a global audience eager for its Early Access release.
For indie enthusiasts, 21c.Ducks is no stranger to innovation. Their journey began with the mobile hit Timing Hero in 2015, followed by Super Pixel Racers in 2018. With Chrono Sword, the team aims to solidify their reputation as pioneers of indie game development, blending nostalgia with groundbreaking gameplay.
Get ready to wield time itself when Chrono Sword hits Steam Early Access this December. Console players, your turn is just around the corner
