Solo Leveling’s Epic Journey Is Coming To The Silver Screen

Crunchyroll just released an English-subtitled trailer for Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, a compilation film combining highlights from Solo Leveling’s first anime season with a sneak peek at the first two episodes of Season 2, titled Arise from the Shadow. Japanese fans can catch this film from 29 November to 12 December, while select U.S. and Canadian theatres will screen it on 6 December, courtesy of Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures. Season 2’s official release will follow on Crunchyroll in January 2025.

For those unfamiliar, Solo Leveling began as a popular manhwa by writer Chugong and artist DUBU of REDICE Studio, first hitting Japanese screens in January this year, with an English dub added shortly after. The story centres around Sung Jinwoo, a struggling, low-ranking “hunter” in a world where portals (or “gates”) connect Earth with monstrous dimensions. One fateful day, Jinwoo survives a deadly dungeon attack and gains a mysterious power that lets him level up in secret—a path that takes him from “the weakest” to one of the most formidable hunters.

Directed by Shunsuke Nakashige (known for Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory) with A-1 Pictures at the helm, Solo Leveling’s creative team includes writer Noboru Kimura, character designer Tomoko Sudo, and composer Hiroyuki Sawano, whose music is renowned from Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill. The anime’s stirring opening theme, “LEveL,” is performed by TOMORROW X TOGETHER in collaboration with Sawano.

For fans of the manhwa, Yen Press offers the full series in English, while Kadokawa handles the Japanese version, titled Ore Dake Level-Up na Ken (I’m the Only One Who Has Leveled Up). The franchise is also set to branch into live-action with a Korean adaptation in development, promising more Solo Leveling to come.
