This Capcom & Devil May Cry Veteran Is Leading A New Japan Studio
China’s games industry is growing ever outward, with more studios popping up overseas. Such is the case of the Tencent-owned LightSpeed Studios, which has announced a Japanese branch in two cities dubbed LightSpeed Japan Studio.
That’s not all: LightSpeed Japan Studio will be operating in both Tokyo and Osaka, and will be led by Capcom veteran Hideaki Itsuno. Yes, the same Itsuno who made Devil May Cry great again, and also released this year’s RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2 with his team.
Itsuno left Capcom in September after 30 years. He began working for Capcom in 1994, and his first works as a director were Star Gladiator and Rival Schools: United by Fate. He would go on to direct Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, One Piece Mansion, Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Auto Modellista, Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition, Devil May Cry 4, Dragon’s Dogma, Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition, Devil May Cry 5, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, and Dragon’s Dogma II.
Here’s what he said about him joining and leading LightSpeed Japan Studio:
“Joining LightSpeed Studios is an exciting new chapter for me. With LightSpeed’s strong development capability and global network, I look forward to creating original AAA action game titles together with the amazing team and building aesthetic and innovative experiences for the global player community. We welcome all talented and passionate game creators from the world over to join our vision.”
LightSpeed Japan Studio is currently recruiting across a variety of positions like animators, designers, and more. In the meantime, here are some awesome Hideaki Itsuno moments:
