Creature Commandos Episode 4 Teases Doom In The Future Of The DCU
By Alleef AshaariVerified|December 19, 2024|0 Comment
The fourth episode of Creature Commandos is now streaming on Max Malaysia.
In the meantime, check out our breakdown of Creature Commandos Episodes 1 and 2, and Episode 3 here.
James Gunn, the co-head of DC Studios, is the writer and executive producer of the series. The official logline states the show “tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option.”
The cast includes Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sean Gunn as GI Robot & Weasel, David Harbour as Frankenstein, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Indira Varma as The Bride, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
The Creature Commandos series will begin the new DCU or DC Universe, with the upcoming Superman movie in July 2025 set to be the first live-action movie. You can read more about the rest of the planned movies and TV shows in the DCU by heading over here.
Again, this reminds us that the events of that movie are canon in the new DC Universe (DCU), as well as Peacemaker Season 1.
Betty Bates was a talented prosecuting district attorney who mainly took on gangsters as the superhero, Lady-At-Law. Before Matt Murdock (aka Marvel’s Daredevil) showed up in the ’60s and passed his first decade, Betty Bates was the longest-running lawyer in comics.
For some reason, she’s working with Gorilla Grodd. Or is Gorilla Grodd controlling her? He does have psychic powers.
We also see many future DCU superheroes being crucified.
We can see the Trinity, including Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
From left to right, these seem to be Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), Hawkgirl, Wonder Woman and Robin (possibly Damian Wayne).
Peacemaker.
From left to right, Vigilante and Batman.
From left to right, Starfire and Superman.
Nice easter egg there.
However, of course, Rick Flag Sr. doesn’t want to do it (because he slept with the princess).
So, this time, the Bride is leading the team.
The one on the right is Congorilla, originally a human character known as Congo Bill. He was actually a superhero appearing in comic books published by DC Comics and Vertigo Comics. Originally co-created by writer Whitney Ellsworth and artist George Papp, he was later transformed into Congorilla by Robert Bernstein and Howard Sherman. The character first appeared in More Fun Comics #56 (June 1940).
The one on the left is Nosferata.
Weasel didn’t kill those children. He was innocent, he tried to save the kids when another guy accidentally shot an explosive furnace, but the explosion still killed most of the children. The police just assumed that he was trying to eat the kids because of his appearance.
Things are getting interesting in Creature Commandos.
Stay tuned for our coverage of the first Superman trailer tonight.
Until next week, excelsior!
