Marvel Rivals: The Best Heroes To Counter Jeff The Land Shark
Marvel Rivals is out now and it’s perhaps the best multiplayer hero shooter in the market. Which is expected considering there are Marvel characters from Spider-Man to the X-Men you can play as in the battlefield, duking it out in 6v6 third-person shooter combat.
One of these illustrious heroes is Jeff the Land Shark. Who is this character, you may ask? Well, this cute shark critter made its appearance in West Coast Avengers as a former pet of superhero Gwenpool; he has changed owners from Marvel monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone to archer extraordinaire Kate Bishop.
In Marvel Rivals, he is a support healer character who has the best Ultimate in the game. Or the most frustrating to deal with, depending on which side you’re on. See, his Ultimate makes him devour everyone in a wide radius, and then take them under the ground. For a limited time, he can spit out allies and enemies separately. However, since there are loads of maps with out of bound areas, you can spit out a good group of enemies off the cliff, resulting in a team kill.

Which leads us to making this guide: the best picks against the adorable AIM-made shark.
Doing whatever spiders can, Spider-Man can swing in the air with his Web-Swing to get out of harm’s way quickly. Meaning he can get away from Jeff’s Ultimate better than most heroes.
Iron Fist in Marvel Rivals is a Duelist who fights close-range, but can get up to people’s faces easily with his wall-running and ki-dashing. While great with dealing with other Duelists and Support characters, he can counter Jeff The Land Shark with ease as well as move out of the way when the Ultimate telegraph is showing. Iron Fist can chain his moves to get him in the air so fast, the developers might as well just give him literal wings.
Any character who can hit enemies from far away are already at an advantage when dealing with Jeff the Land Shark. These trio of mercs and sharpshooters can pick off specific heroes from any distance, provided they have a good vantage point and know how to play as long-ranged characters. As long as you’re good a positioning and timing in a shooter, you’ll do fine as these three.
Venom is one of the few Vanguards (Tanks) in the game who is pretty mobile. He can wall-crawl and swing around the map like Spider-Man, though his attacks are more close-ranged and hit decently hard. However, he can gain extra health based on the damage he inflicts, so the more he goes on the offensive, the more hits he can take before he requires support healing from teammates. Plus, he has a “dive kick” move to get into battle quickly from the air, meaning you can dish out nasty surprises to Jeff who can’t defend himself without help, singling him out for the kill.
Both these heroes can fly and elevate vertically by default. If you’re up-close to the ground with these Duelists, you’re playing Iron Man and Storm wrong. Just stay away from the general battlefield and launch your respective volleys of projectiles and attacks, be it Unibeams or lightning.
