PlayStation Celebrates 30th Birthday With PS1 Boot-Up Sequence Update

30 years ago on 3 December 1994, the original PlayStation was born. To celebrate 30 years of great games and their 30th anniversary, Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled a new thank you video and a new update.

This new update allows you to choose a theme design from either of the four previous PlayStation generations (PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4).

However, the best thing about the update is that your PS5 will now boot up with the iconic PS1 bootup sequence (as we understand, this is temporary for a limited time for now).

The video features many famous game franchises currently and formerly connected to PlayStation, including God Of War, Sly Cooper, Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider, Horizon Forbidden West, and many more.

Other things they’ve done to celebrate the milestone include the release of the PS5 Pro (check out our full review of the console here), as well as a limited edition 30th anniversary collection of hardware and more.

Thank you, PlayStation, and happy birthday, PlayStation!
