PlayStation Drops A 007 Game… Just Not The Right One

If you’ve been holding your breath for IO Interactive’s much-hyped James Bond game—codenamed “Project 007”—here’s a curveball to knock the air out of you. While the official title has still been shrouded in mystery since its 2020 announcement, a different Bond game has crept onto the PlayStation Store under the radar. But before you start mixing martinis in celebration, let’s talk about the catch.

Say hello to Agent 007 – Spy Revenge, a retro-styled first-person shooter developed by Romanian studio iOrder SRL. If that name doesn’t ring any bells, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Their only other known project, Winter Survival Simulator, hasn’t even left the freezer of development yet. As for Spy Revenge, it has no release date and sits awkwardly in the “Announced” limbo.

Now, here’s where things get murkier than a spy’s alibi. According to the PlayStation Store description, Spy Revenge is a nostalgic throwback to classic FPS games. You, as Agent 007, will battle through a web of espionage, danger, and AI-driven enemies while wielding iconic gadgets and weapons. The missions promise a buffet of spy staples: hacking, hostage rescues, secret stealing, and high-octane shootouts in “captivating environments.” All very Bond-ish, but something smells off.

Let’s not forget that IO Interactive holds the official Bond licence. So how does a little-known Romanian studio slide in with what looks suspiciously like a bootleg tuxedo? The absence of an official announcement and the developer’s modest track record only add fuel to the scepticism. If this Spy Revenge game is legit, it’s certainly doing a marvellous job of hiding it.

And this isn’t the PlayStation Store’s first rodeo with eyebrow-raising listings. Just recently, we saw Grand Taking Ages: VI pop up—a cheeky nod to Rockstar’s GTA VI, which everyone knows is officially set to drop in late 2025.

So, what’s the deal with Agent 007 – Spy Revenge? A sneaky indie homage to Bond’s glory days? Or a wannabe shaking up controversy rather than martinis? Either way, Bond fans might want to keep their Aston Martins parked until IO’s official game rolls onto the scene.

What’s your take? Is this a thrilling new spin or just another store listing misfire?
