Daredevil Born Again Showrunner Teases What To Expect From The Series’ Creepy New Villain

Courtesy of Disney, we were one of the few selected Malaysian media to participate in the global press conference for the upcoming Disney+ Hotstar series, Daredevil Born Again.

The press conference was attended by Charlie Cox (‘Matt Murdock / Daredevil’), Vincent D’Onofrio (‘Wilson Fisk / Kingpin’), Dario Scardapane (Executive Producer / Showrunner), Sana Amanat (Executive Producer), Justin Benson (Executive Producer & Director), Aaron Moorehead (Executive Producer & Director), and Brad Winderbaum (Executive Producer).

They answered several questions, including one about what to expect from one of the new main villains, Muse.

Here’s what showrunner Dario Scardapane had to say when asked about what he can reveal about Muse:

“Not a lot. (laughs)

Inside of the story of these two (Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), there are stressors that come in and I would say that Muse is one of those stressors.

What happens with Muse creates a ripple effect that actually goes past this season into the future.

But that’s about all that I could say. People know that he’s in the show. What exactly happens and what effect it has on those two (Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), I’m keeping my mouth shut about.

Vincent D’Onofrio (‘Wilson Fisk / Kingpin’) also added, describing Muse as being:

“… scary, dark and creepy.”

Muse will be one of the main antagonists in Daredevil Born Again.

In the comics, he was created by writer-editor Charles Soule and artist Ron Garney. The character first appeared in Daredevil (Vol. 5) #11 (September 2016). Muse is a serial killer artist who planned shocking mass murders, abductions, and torture as a means of creating his “art”, converting them into works of art.

In Daredevil Born Again, Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.

The series also stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, with Ayelet Zurer and Jon Bernthal. Dario Scardapane is showrunner. Episodes are directed by Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd; and executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Chris Gary, Dario Scardapane, Matt Corman & Chris Ord, and Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead.

Daredevil Born Again premieres on Disney+ Hotstar on 5 March 2025. For my detailed breakdown of the previous Daredevil Born Again trailer, head on over here.
