Elden Ring: Nightreign Might Get Even More Brutal With Extra Bosses & Playable Characters

FromSoftware appears to have more in store for Elden Ring: Nightreign than initially advertised. A now-removed snippet from the game’s Steam page hinted at incoming DLC featuring additional bosses and playable characters.
While this text vanished as quickly as a player’s run against Malenia, PC Gamer managed to capture it before it disappeared. The brief mention of “additional playable characters and bosses” suggests that FromSoftware could be planning an expansion, though the sudden removal implies they may have jumped the gun on the announcement.
For those unfamiliar, Nightreign shakes up the Elden Ring formula, swapping the sprawling open world for a more condensed, roguelike experience. Players choose from eight predefined classes (instead of custom characters) and must survive three increasingly intense nights on a shrinking battlefield, ending with a climactic boss fight.
Given this structure, DLC could mean more class options and an even more punishing roster of enemies. And if history is any indicator—looking at Shadow of the Erdtree—FromSoftware isn’t shy about adding sizeable expansions.
Scheduled for release on 30 May, Nightreign recently held its first closed network test. Unfortunately, the only thing many players got to experience was the loading screen, as technical issues left thousands unable to log in.
With Elden Ring already boasting over 25 million copies sold, FromSoftware clearly has a winning formula. The only real question is: How much more suffering are they willing to add?
