Magic Chess: Go Go Hits 15M Pre-Regs, Launching This Week In Asia Pacific

From the masterminds behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) comes a fresh spin on strategy gaming—Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG). This auto battler, set in MLBB’s ever-expanding universe, is gearing up for its grand Asia Pacific (APAC) launch on 21 February, bringing tactical battles to iOS and Android across Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.
MCGG is now primed for a full-scale rollout after soft-launched in Malaysia and Singapore last November. And if you think strategy games are a niche affair, think again—over 15 million players have already pre-registered, making it one of 2025’s most anticipated mobile releases.
At its core, MCGG takes the familiar auto-battler formula and injects it with MLBB’s signature heroes and lore. Players will draft and deploy iconic characters like Layla, Nana, and Chou onto the battlefield, where eight players will duel in a last-strategist-standing PvP showdown. Every round tests your tactical acumen, real-time decision-making, and ability to adapt—or get wiped off the board.
According to MCGG producer Gao “Skyhook” Chong, this in-game chess craze has been part of MLBB lore for a while, existing in the Land of Dawn as a popular pastime. But with the APAC launch, it’s breaking out into the real world, offering MLBB fans a new competitive playground.
The first official season, Rising Dawn, arrives with plenty of goodies. Players can unlock 14 Commanders, a free Chessboard skin, and even a Layla skin just by playing. MLBB players also get a bonus—the X.Borg “Pecados Rioter” skin—for linking their accounts and completing missions in MCGG.
If that’s not enough, Season 1 is shaking things up with a Two-Player Mode in March. You and a buddy can now team up against other duos, sharing heroes and strategizing together. It’s like chess, but with a co-op twist—because getting carried by a better player is a valid tactic.
And for MLBB die-hards, there’s more nostalgia incoming. Miya, the OG Moonlight Archer from MLBB, is making her debut in MCGG as a playable Commander.
Been grinding the original Magic Chess mode in MLBB? Good news—your effort wasn’t for nothing. Every asset you’ve unlocked there will convert 1:1 into MCGG currency (Golden Diamonds, Gift Tickets, and Passes), which can be spent on new skins and Commanders. No grinding reset, no starting from scratch—just straight-up value for veterans.
MOONTON isn’t stopping at launch day. Producer Gao teased that esports tournaments are already in the works, ensuring MCGG isn’t just a casual time-killer but a competitive battleground for those with a mind for strategy.
So, if you’re itching for a fresh, MLBB-infused strategy game where thinking three moves ahead actually matters, Magic Chess: Go Go is dropping soon. Assemble your squad, plan your plays, and try not to get checkmated.
