Steam Next Fest 2025 – February Edition: Demos Worth Your Precious Time
By KakuchopureiVerified|February 25, 2025|0 Comment
If there’s one thing gamers love more than complaining about games, it’s getting their hands on free demos. Enter Steam Next Fest 2025—a buffet of upcoming titles, where you can sample everything from indie gems to potential flops before they launch. It’s like a fancy restaurant giving out free tasters—some are exquisite, some are questionable, and others make you wonder why they bothered.
But here’s the problem: with hundreds of demos clogging up Steam’s front page, you don’t have time to sift through them all. And let’s be honest, not every demo deserves a download. That’s where we come in. We’ve done the hard work—played, judged, and possibly suffered—so you don’t have to.
Also, a reminder: Steam Next Fest 2025 February Edition is just one of the few Steam events happening. Here are the rest that are scheduled following this one:
Here are the standout demos from Steam Next Fest 2025 that are actually worth your time.
Remember Demon Turf, an indie 2D-slash-3D platformer we enjoyed a couple years back? Well, it now has a sequel and it’s in fully-fledged 3D form and features open-world traversal and exploration. Instead of Hell, you’re now in the vast oceans of Ragnar’s Rock, a brighter and more tropical landscape than the last game, but still just as dangerous.
Navigate the open seas and explore each distant structure, uncovering every hidden nook and cranny with your diverse, expressive move-set. Beat challenges or find hidden chests to collect talismans along the way that modify and even expand your abilities or switch up your drip with a plethora of discoverable outfits!
And never forget, you’re not alone in this journey! Compete with other players for speedrunning times by challenging their ghosts or tag a wall and share your message in the form of graffiti with the entire world!
Truly, we live in a year where the golden age of platformers are returning, with Demon Tides potentially leading the charge.
Soccer/football can get boring, especially when the only games available in the genre are an annual roster update series of games you pay triple-A prices for and a spreadsheet game. Don’t you wish there was a first-person footie title that adds in double jumps, wallrunning, and telekinesis? Welp, Vector Strike will sort you out with that new concept in the long-running sport.
True, you don’t use your feet most of the time to dribble the ball, but if it looks and plays like soccer…
This roguelite first-person shooter has a new updated demo out. Do give it a shot if you love your shooters boomer-flavoured like Ultrakill.
A 2D platformer that claims to be “fair,” much like how a wasp “fairly” stings anyone in its vicinity. Yes, it has over 160 levels, bright colours, and even a local 2-player mode, but don’t let that fool you—this game exists purely to test your patience and ensure that your controller spends more time airborne than in your hands.
The traps? Merciless. The spikes? Soft and gentle, apparently. The buzzsaws? Lovely chaps, really. But much like an overcooked steak, the game insists it’s fair while actively ruining your evening. And yet, the moment you rage-quit, you’ll be back for just one more attempt. It’s addictive, it’s infuriating, and it’s utterly brilliant.
Oh, and if you have a friend you secretly despise, invite them over for the 2-player mode. By the end, one of you won’t be leaving the room voluntarily.
Ghost-hunting games tend to fall into two categories: ones that try to make you soil yourself with cheap jump scares, and ones that actually make you think—because the real terror isn’t the ghosts, it’s what they’ve left behind. Among the Whispers firmly belongs in the latter category, which is bad news if you were hoping to get through this without breaking a sweat.
Armed with real-life paranormal investigation tools, you’re sent into a sprawling, ever-changing four-story manor that refuses to play by the rules. The spirits here aren’t just floating Halloween decorations—they have stories, dark secrets, and plenty of reasons to stay put. Your job? Unravel the mysteries, provoke the dead (always a great idea), and try not to let the psychological consequences ruin your day.
It’s not about cheap thrills—it’s about immersing yourself in a proper ghost investigation. But be warned: if you go in expecting a casual stroll through a haunted house, you’ll quickly find out why the previous investigators never made it back.
WAR RATS: The Rat ‘Em Up is a side-scrolling looter-shooter-MOBA-tower-defense-thing where you lead an army of furious rodents in an all-out war against the TechnoRats—an unholy hive-mind of cybernetic nightmares that want to strip the world of flesh and turn it into metal. So, just another Tuesday, really.
With a combat system that’s as brutal as it is chaotic, you’ll be recruiting troops, building defences, looting everything in sight, and gunning down wave after wave of mechanical monstrosities. You’ll die. A lot. But that’s the fun of it—rats don’t quit, they evolve. And if you’re feeling particularly masochistic, there’s Iron Rat Mode, where death is permanent, and your only reward is the knowledge that you made a very bad decision.
Inspired by the golden era of 90s gaming, WAR RATS isn’t just a game—it’s a violent, hand-drawn, rat-infested fever dream. And the only way out is through.
Welcome to the Cosmic Engine—a hellscape tailor-made to drive you insane. Moroi is a grimdark fairy tale with a twisted sense of humour, blending frantic combat, absurd puzzles, and a reality-bending narrative where truth is nothing but an illusion. Your past is gone, but your crimes? Unforgivable. Your punishment? Eternal. Your only hope? Escape… if that’s even possible.
Delve into a grotesque, ever-shifting labyrinth filled with the Engine’s most deranged inhabitants—some may help, others will deceive, and all of them will haunt your nightmares. Face relentless hordes of the undead using an arsenal of unorthodox weaponry, from a devastating Power Hammer to a full-on cannon arm. Solve disturbing puzzles that require more than just logic—sometimes, the answer lies in drinking blood, vomiting on command, or sifting through viscera. Fun.
The Cosmic Engine doesn’t just want to keep you here—it needs to. And it will warp itself endlessly to do so. Multiple playthroughs will barely scratch the surface of its horrors, as secrets, shifting storylines, and fate-altering endings lurk beneath layers of madness.
Break free—if you still remember how.
Hell has a new lawman, and he’s bringing justice the only way he knows how—by propelling himself through hell with sheer firepower. From the creator of My Friend Pedro comes Shotgun Cop Man, a punchy, crunchy precision platformer where your shotgun isn’t just a weapon—it’s your wings.
Armed to the teeth, your mission is simple: GO TO HELL. ARREST SATAN. But between you and the Prince of Darkness stand 150+ handcrafted levels filled with angry demons, sadistic traps, and adrenaline-pumping challenges. Master momentum-based movement where every blast sends you flying through infernal landscapes, dodging death and delivering justice at breakneck speeds.
Feeling extra daring? Conquer brutal Speedrun, No-Damage, and Kill-All challenges, or dive into an endless hell of user-generated levels with a built-in level editor and Steam Workshop integration.
The Devil’s on borrowed time. Lock. Load. Launch.
Here’s a new Singaporean horror game featuring mystery, timelines intertwining, and spookiness up the wazoo.
Scarred is a first-person atmospheric horror puzzle game where you must uncover the truth about one of your schoolmates before it’s too late. Traverse a world of nightmares inspired by nostalgic Singaporean architecture as you fight to survive.
Grab your magnifying glass and call your crew—Vanova’s Stories is a quirky, co-op point-and-click detective adventure where teamwork makes the case work! Set in the lively, hand-drawn world of Vanova, this 2–4 player investigative journey is half board game, half video game, and 100% chaotic fun.
Each detective has a unique ability—whether it’s intimidation, charm, agility, or brute force—that unlocks clues only they can uncover. Some suspects might clam up when you approach, but maybe your teammate can sweet-talk them into spilling the truth. But be careful—a wrong conclusion might just cost you the case!
