MPL Malaysia S15 Returns With A New Smartphone Sponsor
By Lewis LarcombeVerified|March 25, 2025|0 Comment
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia is back for Season 15, and this time, it’s bringing a new power-up—Infinix. The smartphone brand has signed on as the Official Gaming Smartphone Partner, making its GT 20 Pro the go-to device for Malaysia’s biggest and longest-running esports league.
This partnership isn’t just a one-season fling—it’s part of a multi-year regional deal, covering pro Mobile Legends tournaments across five Southeast Asian countries. Infinix aims to push the limits of mobile gaming, ensuring that both players and fans get a top-tier experience. Or, in simpler terms, they want to sell you a gaming phone while making sure esports in Malaysia stays competitive, accessible, and—most importantly—entertaining.
The collaboration was officially unveiled at the Infinix Iftar Night 2025: Powering the Future with MPL Malaysia, held at Royal Bedouin in Sri Hartamas. And if you’re wondering, yes, I was there, and yes, the food was amazing.
For this season, the battlefield shifts to Stadium Juara, the so-called “Stadium of Champions”—a fitting stage after Malaysia’s rollercoaster 2024. The country saw its best international Mobile Legends performance yet, clinching victories at the Mid Season Cup (MSC) and the World Esports Championship (WEC), as well as crowning its first-ever back-to-back MPL Malaysia champion. But the fairy tale ended in heartbreak when Malaysia fell short of winning the M6 World Championship on home soil.
With that bitter taste still fresh, Season 15 launches with a bold new identity—“Pentas Kebanggaan” (The Stage of Pride). It’s not just about pro players anymore; the league wants everyone—players, coaches, casters, content creators, and fans—to feel like they’re part of something bigger.
This season welcomes some major shake-ups:
Selangor Red Giants have gone full international, partnering with the legendary European esports org OG Esports. They’ll now compete under the banner Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG)—a first-of-its-kind collab for MPL Malaysia.
Red Esports has rebranded as Aero, because, well… new name, new start.
Two fresh teams, Ocean Black and DX Soul, have fought their way up from the MLBB Academy League Malaysia (MALMY) and are ready to shake things up.
The league sticks with its tried-and-tested two-phase format:
Regular Season (19 April – 25 May)
10 teams, single round-robin, Best-Of-Three (BO3) matches.
The season opener? A fiery Grand Finals rematch between SRG and Team Vamos—both eager to prove themselves after their M6 heartbreak.
Playoffs (30-31 May & 14-15 June)
Unlike past seasons, where weekday matches led to fans missing out due to work and school, this time, the Playoffs will be split across two weekends for a better experience.
And for the first time ever, MPL Malaysia is launching official league merchandise—because what’s an esports league without some branded drip?
Season 15 is shaping up to be more than just another tournament; it’s a statement. With new sponsors (Infinix, Head & Shoulders, and Fairrie), new teams, and a fresh brand direction, MPL Malaysia is doubling down on its mission to elevate local esports.
Now, all that’s left is to see if Malaysia can turn last year’s heartbreak into triumph. Until then, we’ll just have to enjoy the ride.
