Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore Breaks Global Esports Record
By Alleef Ashaari|May 31, 2021|0 Comment
It’s a hell of a week for Free Fire mobile battle royale fans.
First up, the Finals of the Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore (FFWS 2021 SG) has hit a peak of 5.4 million concurrent viewers, excluding Chinese platforms, according to Esports Charts. For comparison, FFWS 2021 SG’s peak concurrent viewership figure of 5.4 million more than doubles 2019’s World Series record.
The FFWS 2021 SG delivered record viewership across multiple platforms. Round 1 of the FFWS 2021 SG is the highest peak viewership of any esports match in history, excluding Chinese platforms. The FFWS 2021 SG more than doubled its peak viewership for the Free Fire World Series 2019 Rio, which attracted 2 million peak concurrent viewers; that’s a lot of views.
Second piece of good news for fans: Team Phoenix Force from Thailand are the FFWS 2021 SG world champions, with Team Phoenix Force’s TheCruz dubbed the MVP. The Thai team took home the World Series title and US$500,000 in prize money after claiming 4 Booyahs and 48 kills en route to a staggering 113 points.
Second place goes to Team LOUD from Brazil (77 points) and third place goes to Team Silence from CIS (73 points). Team Phoenix Force’s victory represents the first World Series victory for Thailand, after Team Corinthians from Brazil won the Free Fire World Series 2019 Rio in front of their home fans. Good job, Thailand!
The FFWS 2021 SG brought to Singapore 18 teams from 11 regions as they competed for a US$2,000,000 prize pool – Free Fire’s largest ever. Points were awarded based on round ranking and the number of kills.
All of the matches were broadcast live. To replay any of the high-octane action, head over to the Free Fire Esports Official YouTube channel. Also, if you’re itching for some battle royale, you can download the game on the Apple iOS App or Google Play store.
