Halo Infinite’s Worst Map Is Removed From Ranked Play
Effective today, 343 Industries will be addressing an arguably major complaint in Halo Infinite’s online play.
Players will not see the Capture The Flag mode on Halo Infinite’s Behemoth map in ranked playlists. Many players have complained that this combination is the least-popular one for the past month or so since it appeared on the playlist. Here’s the official statement from Halo senior community manager John Junyszek:
“We’ve seen enough data to show us that the map is not performing in ranked [playlists] as intended. Most of this data revolves around spawning and effective cover around the map. Spawning on the perimeter of the bases with a direct line of sight to the flag stand, in addition to [battle rifle] starts, is creating a more frenetic match pace than desired.
There also appears to be a lack of viable cover opportunities throughout the map, which is exacerbated when all players are wielding a [battle rifle].”
Behemoth is a map set in a desert with two spires and launch pads on each side, is symmetrical in design, and a handful of vehicles. It’s pretty fun, especially in fiesta mode where everyone gets a random weapon per respawn & start of the round.
But in CTF? The map seems unbalanced and “un-fun” for many because of its layout. It especially drags on this map in that particular game mode, given that teams need to go through 5 points instead of 3 in Ranked Play. The map is still accessible in non-ranked play, but many folks who want to level up will be glad not to see the map appear again.
Behemoth is finally removed from Halo Infinite ranked!
