Nintendo Takes Down 1,300 Uploads Of Game Soundtracks From YouTube
Nintendo takes out the banhammer yet again to strike down content creators trying to talk about their games in some form or capacity.
According to YouTube page GilvaSunner, Nintendo has created over 1,300 copyright blocks on the group’s YouTube channel recently.
The following soundtracks have been blocked for use on YouTube.
Basically if you use a good chunk of music from the following for your videos on YouTube, you can expect that vid to be blocked. And possibly even get a copyright strike from the Big N. Here are a few official words from the Twitter handle:
“Let me clarify again that I do not monetize videos and do not profit from them. I do realize that doesn’t justify uploading the content. I’m also not angry or surprised that Nintendo is doing this, but I do think it’s a bit disappointing there is hardly an alternative. If Nintendo thinks this is what needs to be done (to set an example), I will let them take down the channel. It is their content after all.”

Obviously, putting up the whole track of a game without any edits whatsoever is copyright infringement. It’s also not surprising to learn that the takedown request took years since 2019 via Nintendo Japan. Right now, the OST for Super Mario Sunshine is intact on the GilvaSunner channel.
