New Babylon’s Fall Trailer Shows Off Combat and Weapon Types

Babylon’s Fall’s latest Combat 101 trailer gives us a close look at PlatinumGames’ latest action game, showcasing combat, weapon types and their loot system.
Published by Square Enix, Babylon’s Fall latest trailer showed us a glimpse into how the combat plays out, with players taking control of Sentinels. They’re equipped with a Gideon Coffin, a magical disk attached to the player’s back that allows them to utilize the God Thread, being able to control glowing red threads to manipulate weapons or used as a grappling hook.
The combat uses a four weapon system, with two weapons being wielded by your hands and two additional spectral weapons controlled by the God Thread & players are incentivized to combine them fluidly. The trailer showed off the weapons types available which are swords that you can combo with rapid slashes, hammers that charge for heavy, devastating swings, along with bows and rods for those who prefer a ranged approach. Rods seem to have different types such as blast rods and nova rods, which can be used to play a more supportive role using buffs and debuffs. We even get to use shields which uniquely seem to be its own specific weapon type that favours a defensive, parry focused playstyle.
We also get a look at the loot system, which seems to be more on the Diablo-esque side with weapon drops and chests to break open. The game will also include multiple seasons of content with the Season 1 roadmap giving us an overview:
Square Enix also announced the NieR: Automata collaboration taking place in Babylon’s Fall during Season 1. Featuring costumes, enemies, and a dungeon inspired by NieR: Automata, NieR fans won’t want to miss out on this limited-time event.
