David Cronenberg Returns To Body Horror With Crimes Of The Future
By Alleef Ashaari|April 14, 2022|0 Comment
The master and one of the fathers of the body horror genre, David Cronenberg, has returned with what looks like another disturbing and gross (in a good way) movie, Crimes Of The Future. Cronenberg already made a movie titled Crimes Of The Future back in 1970, but this 2022 film won’t be a remake of that movie.
Cronenberg is best known for body horror movie classics like 1981’s Scanners, 1986’s The Fly, and more. Body horror usually involves grotesque or psychologically disturbing violations of the human body, so not everyone will be able to stomach it.
The synopsis reads:
As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed… Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.
Crimes Of The Future stars Viggo Mortensen as Saul Tenser, alongside Léa Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, and Scott Speedman. David Cronenberg directed the film based on his own original script.
It is slated to premiere sometime in June 2022. Check out the disgusting(ly good) teaser below:
