Greedfall is a 2019 action RPG that features fantasy battles, a magical island paradise, and loads of colonization from outerworldly empires. It was made by developer Spiders and published by Focus Home, and we enjoyed our time with the game despite some of its flaws.

Welp, the game is getting a sequel and it’s published by Nacon this time around. The sequel is called Greedfall 2: The Dying World, and it’s slated for a 2024 release on PC and next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series. Part 2 is a prequel set three years before the events of the first game. You play as a native of Teer Fradee, the fantasy realm being colonized by the Gacane empire. Players need to use a combination of diplomacy, cunning, and combat to gain your freedom and halt the conquest of your home. The developers also said the game will get a combat revamp, opting for a more tactical approach to conflict.

“In this new chapter, players will explore the old continent with its bigger and more diverse environments. They will meet new companions and new factions, and I hope they will have unforgettable adventures.”

The trailer below says what needed to be said: indigenous magic folks being raided by colonizers with swords and better tech. It’s one way to talk about something touchy in history without referencing actual history, despite how on-the-nose this can get.
