Lost Ark Loses Over 300,000 Players After Recent Ban Wave, And That’s Good News
Sometimes it’s fine to cut your losses. That’s what Lost Ark has done with its recent banhammer actions.
Over the past week, the game has lost about 300,000 players according to SteamDB numbers. The game’s North American/European publisher Amazon Game Studios have battled the problem of botting and cheaters for quite a while. The problem with this is that having bots farming resources and money every day 24/7 injects an inflated amount of currency into the game which players can buy if they have some insider knowledge.
In the long term, this can be damaging to a game if it wants to get more casual players on board and if it doesn’t want an economy where hard-working farmers can sell off their gold for real money ala World of Warcraft back in the day.
As we continue our battle against bots in Lost Ark, we want to let players know that will be rolling out a wider, massive wave of fresh bot bans over the course of the next week.

The publishers also have been removing a good number of easily exploitable gold farming methods, reducing a good chunk of players who are probably bots and smurf accounts. All in all, this could be good news for Lost Ark players who really don’t want to see bots populating a game that just released this year. While this problem is not completely eradicated, at least the publishers and developers are showing that they care about the game’s image and community in the long run.
