EA Scraps BioWare Points, Makes Dragon Age & Mass Effect DLC Free
By Alleef Ashaari|July 14, 2022|0 Comment
EA has been sending emails to people with BioWare Points in their account, announcing that they will be removing the system starting from 11 October 2022. What are BioWare Points? Years ago, the only way to purchase DLC for Mass Effect and Dragon Age games were by buying BioWare Points The cheapest BP pack was 800 but the DLC often cost more than that, which means that players would always have leftover BP that they couldn’t do anything with.
The email from EA states:
Hello,
We’re reaching out to let you know that starting October 11, 2022, BioWare Points will no longer be available as a form of currency in the Origin store. Other currencies like Crystals and Platinum in other BioWare titles remain unaffected.
To support you through this change, most DLC (downloadable content) that was previously only purchasable with BioWare Points are now available free of charge. This includes DLC for the following titles:
- Dragon Age II
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Mass Effect 2
- Mass Effect 3 (except Multiplayer Packs)
For the next 90 days, you can use your BioWare Points to purchase Multiplayer Packs for Mass Effect 3. After October 11, 2022, Multiplayer Packs will only be redeemable using Credits you’ve earned in-game.
Don’t worry — you’ll still have access to any content previously purchased using BioWare Points.
What this means is that the Dragon Age and Mass Effect DLC are now freeSome of the add-ons for classic BioWare RPGs that could previously only be bought with BioWare points are now available for free. You can log into Origin and grab the DLC by selecting the games in your library, clicking on Extra Content, then selecting “Get it Free”. However, you can use leftover BioWare Points to purchase Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Packs.
