Young Justice Season 3 Officially Returns in January 2019

When Young Justice Season 3 premieres, it will have been almost six years since the DC Comics animated series was prematurely canceled in 2013. Fans can rejoice, now that we know Young Justice Outsiders will be premiering on January 4, 2019 on the DC Universe streaming service.
The official Young Justice Season 3 release date was recently unveiled in a new teaser trailer. It only runs for 30 seconds, so there’s not much to dissect. In the brief video, we can see the planet Earth with strands of DNA hovering over it, before revealing the planet Apokolips in its place.

The strands of DNA hovering over Earth must be referring to the threat of metahuman trafficking, which will be one of the major story arcs featured in Young Justice Season 3. The entire world will be embroiled in a superhuman arms race of sorts, where the main commodity will be metahumans.
Speaking with IGN at San Diego Comic-Con 2018, producer Gregg Weisman said: “The big thing is metahuman trafficking. So now everybody is trying to capitalize on the meta-gene. First world nations, third world nations, rogue nations … criminal organizations. You name it.”
Young Justice Season 2 ended with The Light leader Vandal Savage establishing an alliance with Darkseid and the New Gods of Apokolips. Thus, the appearance of Apokolips in the teaser trailer must herald the coming of Darkseid.
Besides that, Young Justice Outsiders will also feature the return of fan-favorites like Nightwing, Superboy, and Tigress, as well as new characters like the New God Forager and more. The new Young Justice team roster is already confirmed to include Static, Kid Flash, Robin, Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal, and Beast Boy.
We’ll have to wait until January 4, 2019, to see what’s in store for our budding young heroes. If you have Netflix, I recommend re-watching the first two seasons of Young Justice while you still can. In the meantime, check out the original Young Justice SDCC 2018 trailer below for glimpses of the new season.
