Tundra Esports Wins The International 2022; Online Production Stream A Kerfuffle

The International 2022 has finished, and has a new winning Dota 2 team for the year: Tundra Esports.

The team has beaten Team Secret 3-0, with players Sneyking and Aui_2000 leading the team to victory and making history for themselves with top-tier play. Tundra Esports have won US$8,492,444 for being in first place.

Tundra Esports is a pretty dominant team during TI11, beating a 14-4 record in Group Stages to an undefeated run in upper bracket. The team ended TI11 with only 5 total map losses, with this inspirational parting message from Nine.

At What Price Victory?

While Tundra Esports and Team Secret relished in being in the top two spot of The International 2022, fans who tuned in have seen better days. The show’s production value for the online portion has dropped significantly on the final day of the show. The Twitch stream had frame skipping and lagging voices, with the stream going offline at 20 minutes into the third match in the finals. While savvy viewers migrated to YouTube, the broadcast on that channel froze and was rewound by five minutes.

At least Dota 2 fans witnessed some highlights and thrilling matches on the main stage, as well as made their voices heard for the tournament. Plus, we get lovely moments from top-tier Dota 2 player Iceiceice.

Valve reaffirms its commitment to the scene and hopes to improve the level of effort for next year’s TI. The question remains whether Singapore will still be on the list for potential TI tournament grounds given a lot of rumblings and Reddit threads about it.
