University E-League Season 3 Set For A Big Sendoff
By Lewis LarcombeVerified|December 8, 2022|0 Comment
University e-League (UEL) Season 3’s Grand Finals are just around the corner and will showcase the highest level of collegiate esports in Malaysia. The Grand Finals will be on 10–11 December.
This season, over 60 universities from across the country participated in the preliminary rounds held over four weeks between October and November. With the number dwindled down to only 16 universities, they will take centre stage to compete for the title and a prize pool of RM20,000 in FIFA 22, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Valorant and PUBG Mobile.
Among some of the finalists are Sunway University, Taylors University, INTI University, and University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) which have been making headlines as the frontrunners, while universities such as Jesselton University College, Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have been dubbed as the dark horses in the competition.
One of the most anticipated fixtures of the event features Taylor’s University’s ‘Taylor’s Elite’ going head-to-head against ‘Sumaki 2.0’ from UiTM in the Grand Finals of the Mobile Legends series. Leading up to the Grand Finals, Taylor’s University had gone undefeated, cruising their way through the Upper Bracket, whereas UiTM faced tough competition, yet came out victorious against the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) in the Lower Brackets.
Syafiq “Helios” Irfan from Taylor’s University said:
“UEL certainly showcases the level of esports talent coming out of universities from across the country. While we are extremely proud to have made it to the Grand Finals, we are now laser-focused and determined to win. With months of training and preparation for this event, we hope that students and esports enthusiasts will tune in to catch us at the finals this weekend.”
Catch the UEL Grand Finals live this Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 December on their official YouTube channel UEL YouTube channel.
