The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Esports Selection Taskforce just announced the full lineup of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Women’s Category players who will be competing at the 32nd SEA Games. This is the first time they’re including a women’s category in esports at the SEA Games.

The selection process was no joke either. Just like the MLBB Open Category, 18 athletes were invited to participate in closed selections for a chance to represent Malaysia. The OCM Esports Selection Taskforce, together with industry experts, coaches, analysts, and team managers, meticulously assessed and evaluated each player’s performance before making their final decision.

The MLBB Women’s Category will be held from 10–12 May, while the Open Category for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will take place from 12–14 May. It’s going to be an exciting few days for esports fans all over the region!

In a statement, Mr. Andrew Cheong, the Team Manager of the esports contingent at the 32nd SEA Games Cambodia, expressed his excitement for the inclusion of the women’s category and Malaysia’s participation in it.

As a nation, we are working tirelessly to empower and include more women athletes to be a part of esports. Our participation in the MLBB Women’s category is a clear indication of Malaysia’s intention to create opportunities for women in the esports arena. This aligns with the vision of YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, who has been a vocal advocate for women empowerment. We hope that our participation in the women’s category will inspire more women to pursue their dreams and excel in esports.”
