Overwatch 2’s Brand New Hero Is Already Getting A Rework
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|April 19, 2023|0 Comment
If you’ve been playing Overwatch 2 lately, you might have noticed that the game’s newest hero, Lifeweaver, hasn’t exactly been a hit with players. Between his low healing output and a passive that can actually heal enemies, many people have been left feeling pretty underwhelmed.
One of the biggest issues with Lifeweaver has been his “clunky controls,” which have caused a lot of frustration for players. To address this problem, the Overwatch 2 team is planning to make some major changes to the way Lifeweaver handles, and they’ve just revealed exactly what those changes will be.
According to Game Director Aaron Keller, the new controls will be released in a patch next week, along with some other tweaks to the hero’s abilities. For example, Lifeweaver’s Thorn Valley weapon will now be tied to alt-fire, but switching between weapons will be slower to balance things out. Additionally, his Dash ability will be replaced with Petal Platform, which can be cancelled with the same button.
This will become the new default, with options to use the old style.
Details on coming balance changes for Lifeweaver will be posted later this week by our lead hero designer – @GW_Alec (2/2)

Perhaps the most interesting change, though, is that Lifeweaver’s Dash will be turned into a double jump, similar to Hanzo’s lunge ability. This will be the new default control scheme, but players will still have the option to use the old style if they prefer.
Lead Hero Designer Alec Dawson is still working on balance changes for Lifeweaver, so it’s not clear yet how these new controls will affect the hero’s overall performance. And as for when Lifeweaver will be available in ranked play, Blizzard hasn’t said whether they’ll be pushing back the release date or not.
