Honkai Star Rail Free Characters Guide

Honkai Star Rail is out this week for PC and mobile devices. If you want to see what HoYoverse can do in the turn-based RPG space (heh), it’s definitely worth checking out since it’s free-to-play and all.

Just like any free-to-play title, you can score free characters if you’re not in the mood to spend real money to gacha random heroes in the character banner events these games are popular for.

How To Get Honkai Star Rail Free Characters

In Honkai Star Rail, eight characters are available from the start which you can roll for or even unlock in other ways. These characters are 4-stars, but they can help you through the majority of the Story Quest content. Here’s the quick list:

Trailblazer (Main Character)

Your bat-wielding male/female hero who has both Physical and Fire element. You control them at the start of the game after the prologue.

Serval

You’ll get this character for free as a reward for the game reaching 5 million pre-registrations.

March The 7th

This Ice Elemental lass with the bow is one of your default party members.

Dan Heng

This Wind Elemental spear-wielder is one of your default party members.

Natasha

Natasha is a Physical-based support character. You can unlock her for free if you play through the Story Quest.

Herta

Herta is an Ice-based damage dealer with some cool AoE moves. You can unlock her for free by playing through the Story Quest.

Qingque

Qingque is a Quantum-element damage dealer who uses jade tiles as a combat mechanic; the more she stacks onto enemies, the more damage she deals. If you finish the Forgotten Hall, you get to score Qingque as a party member.
