Garena Announces Multiregional Free Fire Tournament With A US$50,000 Prize Pool
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|June 8, 2023|0 Comment
Garena, the publisher of the popular battle royale game Free Fire, has recently revealed its plans to host the Free Fire Clash Squad SEA Cup (FF CS Cup) next month. This tournament will feature teams from four different regions, namely Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and MCPS (Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines and Singapore). With a prize pool of US$50,000, the FF CS Cup promises to deliver an exciting and unique esports experience for Free Fire enthusiasts.
Scheduled to take place from 7–16 July, the tournament will span six match days, during which the 16 participating teams will compete fiercely for the coveted prize. The FF CS Cup aims to provide a fresh take on Free Fire esports following the recently concluded Free Fire SEA Invitational, allowing fans to witness their favorite teams engage in thrilling battles in the game’s first-ever multiregional professional CS Mode tournament.
The FF CS Cup will adopt a two-weekend format. The initial weekend, from 7–9 July, will feature a Single Elimination bracket with matches played in a best-of-3 format. A draw show will be conducted prior to the tournament to determine the teams’ brackets. On the first two days, eight teams will vie for the top four slots, while the third day will witness the eight best teams from the previous matches competing for the remaining four slots in the next week.
The second weekend, spanning 14–16 July, will host the Double Elimination bracket in a best-of-5 format. The top four teams from the previous week will face off against each other, with the winners of the two matches advancing to the Upper Bracket and the losers competing in the Lower Bracket. The Lower Bracket will offer one last opportunity for teams to reach the Grand Final, while the Upper Bracket winners will battle it out for the championship title. The thrilling climax of the FF CS Cup is set to take place on 16 July, where Free Fire fans will witness the crowning of the tournament’s champion.

In addition to the participating regions, Garena has also opened registration for the MCPS regional qualifiers, targeting teams from Malaysia, Cambodia, The Philippines, and Sri Lanka. Interested teams can register until 9 June, 11:59 PM (UTC+8). The qualifiers, scheduled across June, will consist of group and knockout stages to determine the top four teams that will represent the MCPS region at the FF CS Cup in July. Moreover, the qualifiers offer a prize pool of 60,000 Diamonds for the top eight teams.
The FF CS Cup matches will be livestreamed on official Free Fire social channels, allowing fans from around the world to tune in and support their favorite teams. Additionally, Free Fire’s anniversary celebrations will include a special afterparty, details of which will be revealed in the coming weeks.
With the FF CS Cup’s grand spectacle on the horizon, Free Fire fans can expect exhilarating gameplay and fierce competition as teams battle for glory and a share of the impressive US$50,000 prize pool.
