Overwatch 2’s Game Director Addresses Negative Reviews On Steam Version

Overwatch 2’s release on Steam sure has been a rollercoaster. If rollercoasters went downward. The folks at Blizzard dropped their latest update, Overwatch 2 Invasion, during Season 6, and guess what? The game made its big debut on Steam. But things didn’t go as smoothly as they might’ve hoped.

You know how some gamers can get really riled up? Well, that’s exactly what happened. The moment Overwatch 2 hit Steam, a massive wave of negativity crashed onto the game like a furious tidal wave. Yeah, you read that right – loads of angry players flooded Blizzard’s hero shooter with a bunch of seriously harsh reviews.

And get this, in just a matter of days, Overwatch 2 managed to nab the title of the “worst-reviewed game of all time” on Steam. Crazy, right? It’s kind of wild considering the game actually had a strong player base and Season 6 was pretty well-received.

The Game Director himself, Aaron Keller, hopped on the blog train to share his thoughts on the whole fiasco. He basically said, “Hey, I get why you’re all ticked off,” and then dropped a bombshell of promises. New heroes? Check. Fresh maps and modes? You got it. All kinds of cool features and stuff? Yep, it’s all in the works.

Aaron mentioned how he’s not exactly thrilled about the whole review bombing deal, but he’s actually happy that lots of new players got to jump into the game. Some of those cranky reviews were all about this big PvE thing that was hyped back in 2019, which got scrapped. Aaron totally gets where they’re coming from, and he straight-up admitted they bit off more than they could chew with that one.

In response to this, Keller shared what the team has in store. Cancelling the PvE mode might’ve caused a mess, but the team’s set on making things right in the coming months and years. More maps, more heroes, more game modes – the whole shebang. They’re all in for making Overwatch 2 bigger, better, and downright epic.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, when’s the next dose of PvE action coming? Well, it looks like we’ll have to hold our horses until 2024 for that one. But hey, the good news is, we’ve already caught a glimpse of what’s to come thanks to some teasers dropped by Blizzard in the past.

Rumour has it that Season 8 might just introduce us to a new tank hero, Mauga. But who knows what other surprises the devs have up their sleeves? One thing’s for sure, Overwatch 2 isn’t backing down anytime soon. So, keep your eyes peeled, gamers! The adventure’s far from over.
