Red Dead Redemption Writer Bids Rockstar Farewell After 16 Years
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|August 29, 2023|0 Comment
Michael Unsworth, the guy who’s been weaving the stories for the Red Dead Redemption series, just waved goodbye to Rockstar Games. Yeah, you heard me right, he’s been part of the Rockstar crew for a solid 16 years!
Shoutout to sharp-eyed GTAForums user Rucke for catching the scoop. Unsworth slyly tweaked his LinkedIn profile to let the world know he’s moved on from the company.
The dude’s been the wordsmith behind pretty much all of Rockstar’s big hits in the past decade and a half. Fun fact – he’s one of the big shots credited for penning the stories of both Red Dead Redemption games, standing tall alongside the legendary Dan Houser, who’s one of the brains behind Rockstar.
But that’s not all – Unsworth’s also the wizard behind the dialogue in Grand Theft Auto V and IV, Max Payne 3, LA Noire, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and a bunch more cool stuff.
Now, Rockstar Games has been around the block for 24 years, and in recent times, it’s seen some big names pack up and leave. Remember 2020? The year veteran Grand Theft Auto writer and producer Lazlow Jones waved his goodbye after almost two decades of hustle. This dude was the magic behind the funny lines characters spat out and those satirical radio stations we all love. He even played host on GTA V’s Chattersphere and Fame or Shame – classic Lazlow!
And let’s not forget about Dan Houser, the creative mastermind who rocked with Rockstar for over 20 years. Yeah, he too bid adieu in 2020. Plus, back in 2016, Leslie Benzies, the big-shot president of Rockstar North, also made his exit.
But you know what? Take-Two, the big bosses of Rockstar Games, brushed off Dan Houser’s exit like it was no big deal in February 2020. They were all, “things couldn’t be better” at the Grand Theft Auto studio.
And guess what? Rockstar’s parent company is all giddy about some major sales coming up in the next fiscal year, starting from April 2024. They’re blaming it on these “several groundbreaking titles” they’re gonna drop. People are talking, and there’s buzz that GTA 6 might just hit the streets during this time. Can you imagine that?
And speaking of buzz, remember last September when more than an hour of GTA 6 development sneak peeks leaked online? Yeah, it was like Christmas came early for the gaming world. Players got a first taste of what could be the follow-up to one of the biggest-selling games ever. Crazy times, right?
