Set after the fall of the Empire, “Star Wars: Ahsoka” follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

Last year, we were given the opportunity to interview none other than the former Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and current Dark Lord Of The Sith Darth Vader; Hayden Christensen himself.
This line was already in the trailers, but we finally hear it in this episode. Heir To The Empire is a reference to the now non-canon Star Wars Legends novel of the same name written by Timothy Zahn. It is the first instalment of Star Wars The Thrawn Trilogy, and it was first published in May 1991. It was notable for being the debut of Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Star Wars franchise. However, the canon first appearance of Thrawn is now in the Star Wars Rebels animated series.
Paul Sun-Hyung Lee reprises his role as New Republic pilot Captain Carson Teva. He was last seen in The Mandalorian Season 3 recruiting Din Djarin as an ‘independent contractor’ for the New Republic.
Everyone has been heavily speculating about who Marrok really is, and fan theories range from him being Galen Marek AKA Starkiller from the now non-canon Star Wars The Force Unleashed games to Ezra Bridger.
We still know nothing about Marrok and Ahsoka apparently kills him in this episode. It looks like he never really mattered after all.
In The Mandalorian series, we learnt that the Empire committed genocide on the Mandalorians and their planet in an event now called the Great Purge Of Mandalore. This event happened after the timeline of Star Wars Rebels, so why didn’t Sabine help the Mandalorians?
Baylon Skoll claims that Sabine’s family died because her master, Ahsoka Tano, didn’t trust her.
If that’s true (and it could be false considering that it’s coming from a villain), we now know why things have been so cold between Sabine and Ahsoka during this series.
Baylon Skoll destroys the map of the Pathway To Peridea so that the heroes won’t be able to follow them to Thrawn’s location.
“I have a bad feeling about this” is a well-known phrase in Star Wars and has become a running gag throughout the saga. The phrase was originally heard for the first time in Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope, and reappeared at least once in each subsequent movie.
In Ahsoka, it’s Jacen Syndulla who says a variation of the phrase, “I have a bad feeling.” after Morgan Elsbeth manages to activate the Eye Of Sion and the Pathway Of Peridea.
Ahsoka Episode 4 ends with Hayden Christensen reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker as Ahsoka meets a version of him after ending up in what appears to be the World Between Worlds. The World Between Worlds is a mystical plane within the Force that served as a collection of doors and pathways existing between time and space, linking all moments in time together, which was first introduced in Star Wars Rebels.
This Anakin Skywalker doesn’t seem to be a Force Ghost because he’s not transparent like a ghost and he’s wearing his Star Wars Episode III Revenge Of The Sith clothes before he turned to the Dark Side and became Darth Vader.
It’s a warm moment as Anakin calls Ahsoka ‘Snips’ again (not a dry eye for any Star Wars fan), which was his nickname for her during the Star Wars The Clone Wars animated series. However, this is the first time that we hear that in Hayden Christensen’s voice, since it was Matt Lanter who voiced Anakin in the animated series.
The episode does still end on an ominous note as the iconic Vader theme plays in the background…
Until next week, excelsior! Only four episodes left.
