Starfield Official Mod Tools To Launch In 2024 According To Todd Howard
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|September 11, 2023|0 Comment
Todd Howard from Bethesda just announced that official modding tools are on the horizon! But hold onto your spaceship seats, because we’re going to have to wait until 2024 to get our hands on them. Todd didn’t dish out the exact release date, so we’ll just have to twiddle our thumbs in anticipation.
Now, if you’ve been cruising through the cosmos with Starfield since its recent launch, you’re not alone. The game has been raking in the dough and earning some serious brownie points from both gamers and critics. Of course, the whole Xbox exclusivity deal had some folks firing up their engines angrily, leading to a bit of Metacritic review-bombing. But guess what? Starfield is like a rocket ship on a mission – it’s blasting through all the noise and keeping its momentum.
One thing that’s always made Bethesda games shine is their modding scene. And guess what? Todd Howard himself spilled the beans on this too in an interview with Famitsu. He teased that official mod support is on its way and is set to drop “next year.” But don’t set your calendar just yet – Todd didn’t give us the month or day. So, it could be a few months or a full orbit of the sun before we can start modding to our heart’s content. Todd was equally secretive about the Shattered Space DLC’s release date, keeping us all guessing.
The rest of the Famitsu chat was pretty interesting too. Todd shared some behind-the-scenes nuggets about how they used fancy procedural generation to craft those juicy, explorable planets in Starfield. Plus, he talked about what inspired him as a game developer – turns out, he’s a big fan of the Ultima series and has fond memories of playing RPGs like those when he was a kid. Now, he’s on a mission to make gaming memories for the next generation.
While waiting for those official modding tools, remember that the modding community isn’t sitting around twiddling their thumbs. Nope, they’ve been hard at work creating some awesome Starfield mods for you to enjoy right now. So, whether you’re a seasoned modder or just a newbie looking to dip your toes in the modding waters, the future of Starfield is looking pretty bright.
