In the comics, Zaniac is the name of a demonic entity that would possess human hosts and turn them into killer monsters. One of these humans was an actor named Brad Wolfe. The comic that featured his first appearance was published in 1982, so that’s likely the year this entire sequence in Loki Season 2 will be set in as well.
That’s actor Rafael Casal playing Brad Wolfe. In the MCU, it seems like Zaniac is just a fictional movie character played by Brad Wolfe in 1977. Loki and Mobius is there to apprehend him because he’s apparently a TVA hunter named X-5 who went rogue to become an actor in the 70s in the Sacred Timeline.
It turns out that she’s there living in peace as a fast-food restaurant worker.
So, that’s where she went back in Loki Season 2 Episode 1. At the end of the episode, General Dox manages to destroy many of the branching timelines before Loki, Sylvie and Mobius can stop them.
The episode ends with Sylvie going back to her McDonald’s and refusing to join Loki’s mission to stabilise the Temporal Loom.
Until the next episode, excelsior!
