Xbox Ceases Support For Third-Party Accessories Starting November 2023
By Alisha Alix|October 31, 2023|0 Comment
Xbox has recently implemented a new policy that prohibits the use of unauthorized accessories with its consoles. This policy came into effect starting in November 2023.
According to a report by Windows Central, when you attempt to connect a third-party device to the Xbox, a warning message pops up informing you that the device will be blocked. Based on the provided error code 0x82d60002, it has been verified through the Xbox Support website that instead of the policy starting in November, all accessories are given a two-week grace period to be replaced. The website reads;
“From the moment you connect an unauthorised accessory and receive error code 0x82d60002, you’ll have two weeks to use the accessory, after which time, it will then be blocked from use with the console. At that time, you’ll receive error code 0x82d60003. We encourage you to contact the store or manufacturer where you obtained the accessory to get help with returning it,”
Third-party accessories are not a common choice for the average gamer, but certain communities heavily depend on them. One such community is the fighting game community, which utilizes various adapters to connect their custom-made fight sticks to different gaming consoles. These adapters are especially useful for compatibility purposes.
Moreover, disabled gamers often rely on accessibility controllers to fully enjoy their gaming experience. However, it is worthwhile to note that these controllers may only work effectively if they have an official Xbox license, making them a more feasible option for disabled gamers.
Brook Gaming, the manufacturer of these adapters, shared a list of affected devices on Twitter.

In some cases, third-party accessories will work just fine as well — for instance, Razer’s officially licensed Xbox peripherals.
