Xbox Game Camp Asia Announced; Starts Next February 2024
Xbox’s Game Camp initiative is going to spread its wings to Asia next year.
Starting on February 2024, Xbox Game Camp Asia will kick off a 2-month learning experience in the following Asian locations:
The main goal of Xbox Game Camp is to enable people from marginalized communities and non-traditional backgrounds to realize their potential in the gaming industry and grow game communities in places all over the world. The Asian offshoot will be the first-ever multi-location Xbox Game Camp initiative. Xbox will be collaborating with various local gaming associations to source campers while supporting onsite discussions and meetings.
For the Southeast Asian portion, the following organizations and community groups will be involved, with many more to be announced closer to next February:
Here’s what Xbox Global Expansion SEA, Taiwan, and Hong Kong lead Jun Shen Chia has to say about the 2-month long program:
“I have been working with community representatives and leaders from these groups and organizations for many months now – shaping the right curriculum for our first ever Game Camp in Asia, discussing representation from each of these countries, and they will be working with us to bring together our very first Game Camp Asia SEA cohort.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and this is truest for the Southeast Asia region, thanks to the incredible developer communities and the associations that represent them.
This is a major milestone in Xbox’s global expansion efforts in the Southeast Asia region. A year and a half since we began, we’ve built such close ties with so many developers in the region, and I am honoured that they are so welcoming and generous in their support for our education and mentorship program but more importantly, that we can build this program together.”
