The upcoming Convergence 2023, an international VALORANT event in Bengaluru, India, marks Riot Games’ collaboration with The Esports Club for an OFF//SEASON tournament at the Manpho Convention Centre from 14–17 December. While the prize pool remains undisclosed, the participating teams include FURIA Esports, FUT Esports, Gen.G Esports, Global Esports, and Team Vitality, and one more team announcement is expected soon.
This event follows the VALORANT India Invitational held last year, making it the second international event hosted in India. Notably, the VALORANT India Invitational featured high-profile teams like Team Heretics, Paper Rex, Team Secret, and Rex Regum Qeon competing for a US$100,000 prize.
Sukamal Pegu, Riot Games’ Esports Lead for India & South Asia, expressed gratitude to Indian fans for their support since VALORANT’s 2020 launch. Pegu anticipates Convergence as a way for fans to witness their favourite VALORANT athletes in person and engage with them off-stage, concluding the 2023 VCT season.
“Convergence is us at Riot saying thanks to our amazing fans in India, who have supported us since the launch of VALORANT in 2020. We have also since grown the India team to deliver such hyperlocal experiences to our players here. With Convergence, Indian fans will finally get to see some of their favorite VALORANT athletes perform in person and also interact with them off-stage. It will be a perfect ending to the 2023 VCT season and we are just getting started here in India for such international events.”
– Sukamal Pegu, Riot Games’ Esports Lead for India & South Asia
Vamsi Krishna, Founder and Managing Director of The Esports Club (TEC), shared excitement about hosting the event, emphasizing its potential to enhance the esports experience in India and raise the country’s profile on the global gaming stage.
“We are excited to partner with Riot Games to introduce their first-ever international VALORANT tournament to the gaming community in India. This event will not only enhance the esports experiences in the country but also elevate India’s presence on the global gaming stage.”
