M5 World Championship – Day 2: Teams Rise & Fall In Group Standings
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|December 4, 2023|0 Comment
The M5 World Championship’s Group Stage standings are becoming clearer as Day 2 unfolds.
Deus Vult kicked off their M5 World Championship journey with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over TheOhioBrothers. Although Deus Vult claimed the first game, they conceded the second to their North American rivals. The decisive Game 3 saw both teams evenly matched, but Deus Vult secured victory by obtaining the game-winning Lord, eliminating their opponents, and launching a successful base assault. Stanislav “SAWO” Reshnyak’s Diggie stole the spotlight, delivering an impressive 185k damage and earning the MVP title.
In a remarkable debut on the international MLBB Esports stage, Team Flash staged a comeback to hand Burmese Ghouls their second loss of the campaign. Despite a shaky start and losing the first game in a close battle, the MPL Singapore Season 6 champions rebounded to defeat their Burmese counterparts in a double sweep. The third game was particularly noteworthy, with Team Flash securing victory in under 13 minutes after gaining control over Burmese Ghouls.
See You Soon dealt Bigetron Sons their second defeat in the championship by sweeping the Brazilian Robots. The Cambodian champions’ return to the world stage was brief, lasting less than 23 minutes in total. Sok “BOXI” Viera’s exceptional performance in Game 2, where he played Kaja, was instrumental in See You Soon’s swift playstyle, earning him the MVP title.
The day concluded with Blacklist International sweeping RRQ Akira as they began their quest for a second world title after their M3 victory. In a dominant display in front of a full audience, the Codebreakers needed only 11 minutes to secure the first game. Despite RRQ Akira’s stronger resistance in the second game, securing all three turtles early on, the local team found their rhythm as the match progressed, ultimately securing victory by claiming three out of four Lords.
