Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes – Everything You Need To Know Before Launch
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|December 15, 2023|0 Comment
The makers of the beloved Suikoden JRPG series from the 90s are about to release their latest game, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, and it has captured the gaming community’s attention.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is an upcoming JRPG that is positioned as a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series. The development of the game has been highly successful so far, making it a release that you shouldn’t overlook.
Yoshitaka Murayama, the renowned storyteller behind the scripts of Suikoden I and II, is in charge of the story and dialogue for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. According to their Kickstarter page, the narrative unfolds in Allraan, a diverse land with various nations and cultures. The history of this world has been shaped by the interactions and conflicts among humans, beastmen, elves, and desert dwellers, using magical rune-lenses and swords.
The powerful Galdean Empire, having surpassed other nations, has harnessed a technology that enhances the magic of rune-lenses. The Empire is now on a quest across the continent to find an artifact that will further amplify its power. During one such expedition, Seign Kesling, a talented imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village, cross paths and form a friendship.
However, a twist of fate soon throws them into the midst of war, compelling both characters to reevaluate their beliefs and principles.
Eiyuden Chronicle promises a nostalgic JRPG experience with exploration and battles in high-resolution 2.5D visuals and pixel-based characters, as shown in the footage above. The game boasts a diverse roster of hundreds of characters for players to choose from, although details about their abilities are currently unavailable.
In addition to traditional RPG elements, players will engage in a fortress-building system to expand their army, benefiting from the Kickstarter campaign’s increased budget. This boost allows for the incorporation of new features like battle defence modes, asynchronous modes, and card battles.
The game’s key features include a vast and immersive world with various biomes, towns, caves, and villages to explore. Turn-based combat involves commanding up to six units against armies or large creatures, with characters learning AI abilities over time. The game introduces diverse enemies, from ancient rune golems to noble dragons, requiring strategic thinking and alliances.
Recruitment plays a crucial role, as players encounter individuals from different backgrounds seeking purpose. The fortress town, acting as the player’s base, starts small but can be expanded by recruiting characters and customizing aspects such as castle walls, military equipment, fields, and speciality businesses.
Furthermore, Eiyuden Chronicle includes a delightful addition of cats, adding charm to the classic JRPG experience. While the game promises an exciting RPG adventure, the developers acknowledge the lengthy wait for its release. To address this, they’ve announced a companion game to keep players engaged until the main game’s launch.
There will be two editions as of writing this. Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition, with pre-orders across all digital platforms, are already available. Interested players can choose between two editions: the Standard Edition priced at US$49.99 or RM149.00, which includes the base game, and the Digital Deluxe Edition priced at US$79.99 or RM177.00.
The Digital Deluxe Edition not only encompasses the base game but also offers perks such as 48 hours of early access, a Season Pass, three Kawano-designed wallpapers, two Headquarters Paints, and additional downloadable content featuring chapters for Seign, Marisa, and Markus. Moreover, purchasers will receive the “Easy Journey Pack,” containing healing items, revive items, and evacuation items, along with digital goodies like a mini art book and a soundtrack.
Both editions include the “Early Bird Pack,” featuring an Enhancement Rune, an Enhancement Accessory, and a Headquarters Custom Object, with the option to buy these add-ons separately at a later date. This comprehensive range of editions and bonuses caters to the diverse preferences of players awaiting the release of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
Due to the 2.5D graphics, it’ll be safe to assume that Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will offer an immersive gaming experience without taxing your PC. The high-resolution visuals and pixel-based characters, reminiscent of classic JRPGs, not only promise a nostalgic journey but also ensure that the game remains accessible to a wide range of gaming systems. So, while embarking on the epic adventure in the diverse land of Allraan, you can rest assured that your gaming setup won’t be pushed to its limits, allowing you to fully enjoy the captivating narrative and strategic gameplay that this spiritual successor to the Suikoden series has to offer.
