Insomniac Games’ Hacker Releases More Than 1.3 Million Stolen Files & Unannounced Games Info
A ransomware group called Rhysida that has allegedly hacked PlayStation’s Insomniac Games has released a huge number of stolen files. Previously, the hacker group threatened to publish the files a week ago if Insomniac didn’t pay the ransom worth US$2 million.
According to Cyber Daily, the hacker group has illegally posted over 1.3 million files totalling 1.67 terabytes onto its darknet site. 98% of the stolen data has been released, though 2% was labelled as “sold data”, implying that a small chunk was sold to someone else.
As it’s now out in the wild, social media users have combed through all the data which includes a crazy amount of information, test gameplay, developer/artist instructions, and assets for Insomniac’s future projects, which also includes the previously-announced Marvel’s Wolverine game. Other important documents and info that were stolen include unannounced games stretching as far ahead as 2030 and beyond, employee passport scans, internal emails, internal HR documents, and a personal note related to Marvel’s Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal. So if you want to keep all Insomniac games a surprise to yourself, we suggest not going online for the next few days.
Insomniac’s latest game release was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, with the title’s New Game+ option available early next year.
