It’s been over a month since we posted our review of this year’s middle child of Samsung’s flagship releases, the S24 Plus. A device oft overlooked due to the flashier, more stacked sibling in the S24 Ultra, the Plus turns out to be a sleeper hit. In fact, in our eyes, it carries the best bang-for-the-buck offering from Samsung so far in 2024.

We’ve kept the S24 Plus as our daily driver well after we were done reviewing it to find out its medium-term capabilities and it’s safe to say, we remain impressed by this underrated device.

Still Good 30 Days Later?

Yes, unlike the S24 Ultra, it does not come with the S-Pen nor a SnapDragon chip. However once you consider the price difference and which overall package serves the mass market better, it is hard to not consider the S24 Plus when hunting for you next flagship-tier device. The screen is just as bright, the camera setup is almost similar to the Ultra which means it is more than what any casual user would need and the baked-in Galaxy AI is a wonderful addition to the overall experience.

With improved, AI-powered photo editing and text optimization, the Galaxy AI which is native to all S24 devices this year puts the S24 Plus clear ahead of its contemporaries within the same budget range.

We recently reviewed the S24 Ultra and when switching back and forth for comparisons’ sake, we found the softer edges found on the Plus to be more pleasant to the touch. While the screen on the Plus is 0.1 inch smaller than the Ultra, there’s more screen to body ratio on the Plus as well as higher pixel density. The thin bezels make the Plus a really good phone for consuming media.

Also, those who are porting over to Android from an iPhone would experience a more familiar feel thanks to the overall build. If a premium feel is something you are after, you will not be disappointed. Despite that, we still recommend slapping on a good phone case as we are sure no one likes scuffing up their new smartphone which costs thousands.

Battery-wise, we were able to easily squeeze two days’ worth of usage and while charging could be a bit faster, it didn’t really affect us as the phone is charged at night while we are asleep. Even when playing demanding games, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile for example, the phone remains relatively cool to the touch even when playing the battle royale on max settings.

Speaking of gaming, the rounded ends make the Plus a much more comfortable phone to game on than its Ultra sibling. You don’t get parts of the phone digging into your flesh and that’s a good thing at the expense of 0.1 inches. That’s a good tradeoff, especially for extended gaming sessions. Even when you are playing mobile games that do not require too much stuff moving on screen simultaneously – Marvels Snap for example – the phone serves as a great gaming machine sans the tackiness typically associated with a gaming phone.

The fact that the Plus is powered by the supposedly ‘underpowered’ Exynos chip is not noticeable at all. Should you have qualms with the Plus due to the chip it comes equipped with, we can assure you the difference is negligible if not, unnoticeable.

We’ve tested several Samsung phones in the past and the S24 Plus is now the wieldiest device in that long list. We do not have giant hands but we are still able to comfortably and confidently navigate around the S24 Plus one-handed. It has a soft touch but is not slippery at the same time. Perfect for those with dainty hands or those who prefer one-handed navigation.

Verdict, A Month Later…

While the Plus lacks the titanium build found on the Ultra, it holds up well over time from minor scratches or bends. The screen remains pristine despite not having a screen protector on. However, we do recommend putting on a decent case for added, long-term protection.

In all, our opinion on the S24 Plus a month after usage remains the same if not, improved. We highly recommend this to those in search of a top-shelf Android device, almost on par with the S24 Ultra sans the need for the S-Pen. Added with the long-term support and updates Samsung promised AND the Galaxy AI baked into it, the S24 Plus is a solid pick for 2024.
